Description: Established by the inimitable Freda, Cafè Paradiso immediately set the bar for local cuisine and, from its inception, introduced us to a variety of dishes and ingredients seldom before experienced locally. Loving the idyllic setting and the warm ambience, Capetonians eagerly tucked into exotic and ‘foreign’ fare such as tzatziki, dolmades and babaganoush as well as the delicious country-style dishes which emanated from Paradiso’s bustling kitchens. Joined by three more formidable women, Laurille, Lynn and Mapula, Frieda and her team remained the heart of city trading with a lineage of values forming the foundation of this amazing establishment.

“Lovely dinner and great kids program”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

We went for dinner in late November 2012 during a great SW wind storm with our six year old. Our first time in Cape Town and at Cafe Paradisio. We were unable to see the lovely garden or the views as it was after sunset and the wind was "epic", but the dining rooms were warm and inviting in a very well done Italian rustic style. We had a fantastically professional and warm server who was also quite helpful in directing us to some dining options in Stellenboch later in the week. The mostly Mediterranian style food was well executed, comforting and fresh without being overly fussy or ambituous--just what we wanted. Wine options were delicious. Best of all was the kids option to make pizza in the bakery so that my husband and I could enjoy some private time together. Pizza experience was a resounding success and my husband and I wished that other restaurants would offer the same. The pizza was actually super yummy and not just a half hearted attempt to entertain. Wish we had been able to return and will when we get back to Cape Town. Hopefully, very soon! Highly recommended.

“Worth a visit”

Had a great dinner with friends.

Salt and pepper squid starter was the highlight

Steak was a bit chewy and average quality.

“First Stop in Cape Town”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

I have been to this restaurant on two occasions and on different times of the year. The food is superb, the ambience very rustic chic and the service faultless. It is such a great feeling to sit in their pebble garden and sip some great wine and chat away as the world goes by, or simply looking up at Table Mountain. It is however very, very hot during the summer where even the interior provide very little relief.

“Beautiful View of the mountain”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

One of those restaurants that does not rely on the view to pull the patrons. We have been dining here for years. The problem with taking advantage of the view is that you must sit outside with the dirty rotten smokers (DRS's) if you are not able to secure one of the balcony tables.
