Amazing food. Excellent service. Comfortable surroundings. Warm ambiance. Great wines. What more do I need to say?!?!?! This really is a gem.
I had booked a table for four (by e-mail) at 7pm on New Years Eve. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed (by name, which doesn't happen too often on your first visit) by the Maitre D' (who seems to be the Owner, too) and shown to our 10/10 table; a prime spot, right by the window. Our Waiter then came over and expertly explained the dining concept and format. We ordered a bottle of competitively-priced Cap Classique whilst we perused the menu - extensive but not overbearing. Ooooh! I could have chosen so much; it's all there, vegetarian, poultry, meat, game all again competitively priced at RSA30-60.
Our food arrived in almost clockwork fashion, each element perfectly timed in accordance with table size and appetite, whilst allowing just enough latency to allow for full enjoyment. Our two girls (aged 18 and 20 years) can often be fussy eaters, but you wouldn't have though so here! Smiles, ooh's, ah's and contented faces were in exquisite abundance. As our subsequent choices were delivered to our table, the enjoyment persisted. Every single dish was deemed a raging success by all - rare that, I can tell you!
You really should make FORK a "must visit" when in Cape Town and - if you take my advice - don't miss the Chicken on Fondant Potato with Leek and Curry sauce. There is not a superlative which could do that dish justice.
I have never before been to a restaurant anywhere in the world which has totally satisfied my (often) finicky ways...but I have now. Really, "You gotta eat Here!"
PS: On a personal note to the "Head Cheese" and staff - thank you.

We visited on the recommendation of our hotel, as a novel new Cape Town Restaurant. Novel it wasn't; but clearly the concept of tapas - or even meze - is still new to Cape Town, as the waiting staff take great pains to explain how the food is ordered and will arrive (i.e. that they are not 'full, main course plates' that they are 'designed for sharing' and will be served 'as soon as they are freshly prepared'.) The menu is nonetheless very easy to follow. Where the staff proved to be of real benefit was helping navigate the extensive South African wine list.

As it was a little chilly, and noisy on the street outside, we decided to take an inside table upstairs.

We enjoyed a nice range of (five) vegetarian dishes. The deep fried goats cheese was a good texture and the onion marmalade and sun-dried tomatoes a tasty accompaniment; the mushrooms in puff pastry were also flavoursome; and the pasta dish equally enjoyable. While - at £42 for two, including one desert and one cheese selection - it was relatively expensive by SA standards, it was a restaurant I would have been happy to return to.

Met by an unfriendly processed individual with a clipboard asking for our name was a real brick wall experience.
Placed at a table by a till even the waiter suggested if we ordered more it would take time in other words' I need to turn these tables over quickly as we are full tonight'
Food average nothing special would not go back.
Felt like we were being hurried along .

The ambiance and service are great and and all that, but the absolute highlight is the food! It is not Spanish tapas, rather little morsels of deliciousness with interesting varieties, textures, colours and flavours.
Situated in the heart of Cape Town on Long Street where there is a real buzz. Cannot wait to go back again.

The description of tapas seemded to us a little bit misleading, we are used to expect Spanish deli's when thinking about tapas. We had a reservation for the balcony on first floor, interesting scenery with xmas music from one side and African drums from the other. The coctails we had were good, I asked for a modification to make a strawberry margerita instead of a regular one, but this was denied. The wine was good, , the wine list as well as the menue are simple to overlook. We have choosen several small dishes, some of them were sold out (even it wasn't 8 pm and the restaurant had several empty tables left). All food was well cooked, somewhat well balanced spicy, in sizes I would call them amuse bouche. We sometimes waited a little bit longer for some "tapas", and we needed 6 courses to feel satiety. The staff was friendly, forgot one course (which wasn't a problem for us), and the manager called a cab at the end.
