Description: Sevruga is a culmination of a lifetime of work, and our complete dedication to perfection. Although perfection is almost always a step away, we always endeavour to exceed your wildest expectations, offerings lush interiors, exquisite dining and an intimate atmosphere seating up to 350. From the New York style entrance, polished marble and solid wooden floors, to the fabulous American walnut bar counter and designer chairs with opulent, imported fabric, it is clear that no expense has been spared. Our philosophy when creating Sevruga was the same as when we create our signature dishes. We use the best possible raw ingredients, combined with professional and creative suppliers and craftsmen to create a truly amazing experience. An elaborate menu offering a vast array of wines and meals ranging from humble dishes to taste sensations, with more complex tastes and flavours. The service is relaxed yet professional, while the view from both inside the restaurant and out on the terrace, will take your breath away! As part of giving Sevruga customers an all-round experience, a Functions Manager for tour and incentive groups is always on hand and, from the entrance to the kitchen, Sevruga has steadfast principles in place to guarantee an over-all experience of grandeur. With especially designed set menus, we can cater for any function. It's no wonder that every now and then we are delighted to have famous faces, both local and international, grace our establishment. A-list Hollywood stars such as Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart and Tom Hardy, have been spotted dining at Sevruga, as well as our beautiful Benoni Blom Charlize Theron. You never know you might just bump into Brangalina! "The only reason to visit the V&A Waterfront". - The New York Times.

The restaurant is nicely located on the quayside of the Victoria and Alfred waterfront. It is very popular and you must book if you want a table. It is unlikely you will get one unless you do. Outside there are lots of sun shaded tables where you can dine and watch the world go by. Inside is fairly dark and cooler being air conditioned. Service is slick and professional across what is a quite large restaurant.

A dim sum starter was fairly good but not exceptional. Line caught fish features on the menu, mainly kinglip but crayfish are both large and succulent. We had a surf and turf which consisted of 8 prawns and a fillet of beef. There was not a great deal of taste to the beef it has to be said. However, at 838 rand or £50 for a meal for two including wine and water, it is very good value. This is due in part to the exchange rate at the time but generally the restaurants in South Africa are good value.

If you want to eat well at a good price and in a people watching location, this is definitely the place to go.

This is a sister restaurant to Beluga and located on the waterfront in Cape Town. The formula is similar; attractive ladies in black miniskirts show you to your table ; the menu tries to cover all bases - dim sum, sushi and regular offerings. The food was really awful The sushi has little to do with sushi if you know what proper sushi tastes like. The dim sum was inedible. The place had no atmosphere and like my comment for Beluga - time to move on guys from the mini skirts and the pouting poses of pretty girls on the menu. This restaurant has no interest in food. Our waiter was not particularly friendly. The only bright spark was a young waiter who took over from our first waiter who in comparison to our first waiter was friendly, engaging and chatty. Would not recommend this place

Sevruga is large, busy and noisy and very much in favour with the tourists who throng the Waterfront. Book if you want to eat here. Unlike some of the Waterfront restaurants, the food is generally very good, as is the service.

This time however, the wheels came off! My curry was thin soup, loaded with chilli and not much other flavour and my wife's steak was cold - not lukewarm - cold. Should never ever have been passed for service. When we objected, the efficient Sevruga damage limitation process swung into action and both meals were substituted quickly, with an offer of complimentary desserts.

All restaurants make errors occasionally, but not all react as they should, when they do. This was handled well and we will certainly be back. We like Sevruga!

This used to be one of my Cape Town top pics- reliable for great service and some of the best seafood in town. We arrived on time for a table for four, and we're asked to wait at the bar for a couple of minutes for our table. 25 minutes later I had to go back to remind them we were there. The table was still not available. Two expensive cocktails later we were eventually seated - without apology.

This set the tone for the evening. Service was well below par - slow, lacking in attentiveness, but friendly. The veggie main courses got good reviews, the tuna was tasteless, and the chicken curry incredibly spicy.

It's still a great location, but its delivery has it no longer anywhere near my Cape Town top 20.

We selected to eat at Sevruga because of it location / ambiance - a lovely day where we could sit outside on a shaded terrace near the quayside. It was not our first location choice, but we decided to enter because we were assured there were dishes available that could be modified for vegetarian / vegan requirements. In the end it was very limited and a request to have the gnocchi with cheese substituted by a few vegetables was a step too far. However, the gnocchi dish without cheese was excellent and there was a little bit more gnocchi than the dish that comes with cheese. A side order of vegetables was also ordered which was uninspiring OK.
However, the fish (kingklip) - a standard order from the menu was not very good. It was probably frozen (and even re-frozen) and the texture was not correct.
Service was OK although some training is needed in the manner in which they handling dietary requirements.
