Description: Sevruga is a culmination of a lifetime of work, and our complete dedication to perfection. Although perfection is almost always a step away, we always endeavour to exceed your wildest expectations, offerings lush interiors, exquisite dining and an intimate atmosphere seating up to 350. From the New York style entrance, polished marble and solid wooden floors, to the fabulous American walnut bar counter and designer chairs with opulent, imported fabric, it is clear that no expense has been spared. Our philosophy when creating Sevruga was the same as when we create our signature dishes. We use the best possible raw ingredients, combined with professional and creative suppliers and craftsmen to create a truly amazing experience. An elaborate menu offering a vast array of wines and meals ranging from humble dishes to taste sensations, with more complex tastes and flavours. The service is relaxed yet professional, while the view from both inside the restaurant and out on the terrace, will take your breath away! As part of giving Sevruga customers an all-round experience, a Functions Manager for tour and incentive groups is always on hand and, from the entrance to the kitchen, Sevruga has steadfast principles in place to guarantee an over-all experience of grandeur. With especially designed set menus, we can cater for any function. It's no wonder that every now and then we are delighted to have famous faces, both local and international, grace our establishment. A-list Hollywood stars such as Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart and Tom Hardy, have been spotted dining at Sevruga, as well as our beautiful Benoni Blom Charlize Theron. “Great location but feeding chicken to veggie???”
Reviewed November 8, 2012 via mobile

Great location and atmosphere. Where the well heeled of Cape Town eat out. Service was good but my girlfriend is a vegetarian, who will eat prawns. Ordered the prawn Wan Ton and was given chicken. Spitting out food, waiter apologised and another plate of Wan Ton was brought out. This too was chicken. The duty manager apologised, admitted it wasn't the first time and gave us prawn in tempura. The food is made off-site and shipped in, heated/cooked on the premises. Waiter was very good, shame the kitchen staff let the place down.

“Dirty and not upmarket!”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

We sat in the outside area as it was a sunny day. The area was overpacked with tables and our waiter kept knocking into me without apologising. The side plates on the table were dirty and stained. When I asked for a new one, I received one that was also dirty which the waiter told me was actually stained- very odd how all their dishes are stained? I asked for a glass of water which arrived with funny black particles in it. The sushi and dim sum was very average and looked quite sad (the avo had already started to discolour) and not at all at the Caviar group standard which I've had at their sister restaurant Beluga. We ended up leaving most of it behind. My sushi soy sauce bowl was also dirty and had built up crusty stuff in it- disgusting. This restaurant is not as upmarket as it claims to be and quite shabby with poor cleaning standards. Will definitely not be going back and would not recommend it!

“Had our best meal here during 2 week stay in S Africa”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

We found this restaurant by chance (unfortunately on our last night in Cape town). We booked earlier in the day. We did accept an earlier slot than we would have liked but thought this was a good sign that the restaurant was well frequented. We were not disappointed. The restaurant was busy and had a great ambience. The food was excellent as was the service. We also noticed that many of the diners were locals - another good sign. Only regret we wished we'd found this restaurant earlier during our stay.

“Plain food with service to match.”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

We were shown to our table 40 minutes after our original reservation. We waited at the cramped bar (strangely the bar is actually a smoking area so all diners come there for a puff) whilst the manager tried to compensate for the delay by offering complimentary prawn rolls and drinks to patrons but the waitrons shouting over us and bickering with the disinterested barmen got us off to a bad start.

More free sushi followed when the manager found out my girlfriend was celiac and couldn't eat the prawn rolls so must tip my hat to him in that regard.

The oyster starters were big and tasty but unfortunately both our mains of kingklip were quite bland. Disappointingly got charged extra for a shot of Amarula in our Dom Pedros but by that time we were beyond caring.

To end an average evening the waitress looked like we had kicked her puppy when we left a tip 15% on an overpriced menu for below average service.

In a location like this I don't think they have to worry about repeat customers but we definitely won't be back.

Would recommend Baia two minutes away.

“Great food and the service from one of the world's best!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is the only restaurant I frequent on the waterfont. There are 2 reasons to go to eat here. The food is excellent and they have an amazing waitress in Salochini(known as Durbs)-she just loves her job-she has only had 3 days off this year, not because Sevruga are tying her to the restaurant. She adores it.
We arrived and enjoyed a glass of Pongraz rose, while Durbs, with enthusiasm, described the menu, with a relish that had the taste buds awoken. We both started with the Tuna crush sushi, which was really fresh accompanied by the ginger and hot wasabi!
For the main mum had the Cape Malay curry, and loved it!I had the de-boned lamb in a minty sauce on a bed of mash.It could have done with a little bit of greenery to add some colour, but it tasted divine. I had a Glen Carlou Cab while with the spicy malay mum had a wonderful Bochendal Shiraz.
I rounded off with a morish chocolate and honey-combe sundae.
Durbs smiles and jokes with the guests, but is also a true pro!
To top it all the bill is great value.
