Description: With panoramic views of Signal Hill, Signal Restaurant provides a welcome setting on the water's edge. The menu is a unique combination of flavours incorporating influences from the many cultures that called upon this region in days gone by. The aged yellowwood furniture juxtaposed with crisp white linen, all skillfully positioned in the glow of the eccentric hand-crafted chandeliers sets the atmosphere for a new level of hip hotel dining.

After reading all the marvellous reviews about this hotel and being regular visitors to Cape Town, we were really looking forward to lunch at the Signal Restaurant, which is in The Cape Grace Hotel. The waitress was quick to recommend the butternut soup and the kingklip. We always order kingklip when in Cape Town, unfortunately this time the small piece of kingklip was really overcooked and very dry and the tiny portion of butternut soup was just boring. Also quite strange that the restaurant in one of the "best hotels in the world" was virtually empty over the Easter weekend.

Ate at the restaurant several times on our recent visits to Cape Town. The food is excellent, great choice (we repeated the Springbok, it was exceptional), the staff are attentive and very friendly. Knowledgable re wine selection/advice. All round consistent service, highly recommend.

As said as hotels go this was excellent, in fact as restaurants go it was excellent. Simply great food, classy surroundings, attentive staff and not overly expensive which for a 5 star hotel which certainly fancies itself is a good recommendation all round. Do not be put off by the outside or the reception give it a go.

Both Food Quality, Ambiance and Service are very good for this type of place and the value is exceptional. Watch out for the sommelier though, if you want to choose your own wine you have to be very firm!
