The breakfast, the view and the service at The Atlantic Grill are the very best, the top, the "crême de la crême" in CapeTown.. The staff is smiling, efficient, polite and very professionnal... The breakfast is a buffet with an unbealivable choice from the fruit and vegetables juices to sushies... meat, salmo, croissants... even a "diabetis buffet"... with a specific selection...
It is a bit pricey but... you have the best service, the best food and.... the best location with the with on harbour, Waterfront and... the Table Mountain... Beautiful and exceptional..

From the fresh oysters to the perfectly cooked Karan beef fillet you cannot go wrong by having a dinner at The Atlantic Grill. It is inside the Table Bay hotel and the setting is absolutely beautiful with stunning views of the Cape Town Waterfront harbour. It is a bit pricey but the service is excellent and they treat you like royalty.

The breakfast, the view and the service at The Atlantic Grill is the best in town. The quality and selection must be up there with the best in South Africa!

Was refereed to the Atlantic by the lovely folks at Bistro on Rose and wow, they were right: incredibly underrated.

Okay, so it is at the waterfront (tourist haven, which usually means overpriced and no flavor). And its at a hotel (which also means bland overpriceness). And yet...wow. The service was awkward, but attentive, particularly for a tourist place. The servers were present, but, well, you cannot expect that regularly in SA. There were a few times when they had public disagreements and while weird, we were always taken care of.

But the food. My oh my. The wine list is a book (a bit overwhelming and no help from the sommelier), and it is overpriced, but they have some great wines. But you'll save money on the meat, so relax, order that wine you wanted but didn't want to pay that much for, and then order the chateaubriand for two. And the luxury begins.

The bread cart comes along, choose your bread bits from a great selection (including olive oil and your choice of vinegars).

Then your appetizer. Share this. The calamari was fab: two succulent, soft, perfectly butter breaded slices of calamari steak on top of a handful of black squid ink pasta. Tasty and gone in 24 seconds.

Then they deliver a palate cleansing sorbet (ours was chili and strawberry - ridiculous).

Then...the cart comes to deliver the chateaubriand, a forearm sized slab of tender, perfectly cooked, fabulously red meat. Came with butter potato slice baked heaven and a three-or-four type of mushroom slither. Grub. The meat was the best steak we've had in a year in South Africa - better than 5 star restaurants where you'd pay R200 more for less meat and less quality. Nothing in Cape Town compares. Best steak we've had. And we shared it, but still had significant leftovers.

In all, expensive, but WAY less than anything of comparable quality. It is in the heart of tourism, yet somehow acts like they take food, service, wine, and meat seriously. One of the best restaurants in Cape Town, and likely in South Africa.

Very fine dining here. They start off with a selection of rolls paired with truffle oil or a selection of pestos. Also amuse vouches and palate cleansers are tasty. The duck carpaccio was interesting, the beet root and ash goat cheese was a better appetizer choice. My springbok was so tender, I almost didn't need a knife. Wait staff was very attentive, would heartily recommend this place for a special occasion.
