“Good stay!”
Reviewed June 22, 2011

Had a great stay here. Besides the bathroom door not opening all the way, it was a great location, rooms were big and clean and a perfect place to lay after a 38 hour voyage!

We stayed here for 4 nights which was the begining of our honeymoon. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay and made excellent recommendations regarding the local area. Our room had an amazing view and was comfortable and clean. Cape Town was everything we hoped for and more and we can't wait to return.

We stayed at the Primi Royal in October 2010 for the first stop on our honeymoon. I am not easily pleased and was slightly nervous after reading a couple of previous reviews but I shouldn't of been. This hotel was fantastic in ever way. After a long journey from Glasgow to Cape Town via Dubia we were absolutley knackered. Arrived to a relaxed and friendly Byron who checked us while serving us a cold beer and giving us lots of information about the local area, where to eat and things to do. We had arranged a shark dive the following day and Byron phoned the company for us and organised our pick up. Nothing was too much trouble.
We had the room in behind the reception and breakfast bar and heard absolutely nothing at all. The room was beautiful with a large four poster bed, complimentary dressing gowns and all the trimmings. Breakfast was delicious and the hotel is just a very short walk from the all the restaurants and pubs,

We really enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave and when we return to South Africa we will return to Primi Royal.

Than to all the staff and particularly Byron for a lovely stay.

Our final stop on our wonderful tour was the Primi. A great location in Camps Bay and just the right size for our group. Only 10 rooms and I would recommend the extra £24 to upgrade to a luxury room for the space and bathroom. Get rooms 7 or 8 as they are brilliantly located if you can. The staff were great, Byron the manager especially, and the atmosphere very relaxed. The rooms themselves were good but could do with an annual refresher to keep ahead of the game. e.g. Flat screen tv, bathroom paint and decorate and room painting as well as furniture updates. This in no way reflects on our stay but a tweak here and there would make it a 5 instead of a 4. The breakfast is great although a bit hectic due to space and staff numbers but hotel location is superb. We used San Lee tours from here for a winelands trip and transfers and he is great and very well priced. There is a red line shuttle to everywhere and this stops about 200 yards away. Cheap and clean and great fun. (waterfront, Cape Town centre, Table Mt. etc). The Bayside Cafe is a great find for good food and drink and the cocktails in the first floor bars are wonderful. The pool area at the Primi is small but perfect to watch the sunset with a sundowner and friends. I would recommend Baltazar restaurant on the V and A waterfront for a last meal to end the perfect holiday. More pricey than others but worth every penny. All in all a fantastic time in beautiful South Africa. Go and enjoy.

Room Tip: Pick Byrons brains for trips and restaurants

This hotel is all about its location. Camps Bay is top of the list for places to stay in Cape Town and the location of this hotel should put it top of the list for Camps Bay.

We spent 5 nights here in March. When we were searching for accommodation in Cape Town I was surprised at how expensive hotels were. Villas appeared to be the answer but the trade off was a good location. This place isn't too expensive, roughly 100 Euro a night including breakfast. It's a 2 minute walk down to the beech front where the restaurants and bars are. Its not a traditional layout, corridors are narrow, and the rooms aren't massive but its all there including a small pool.

The breakfast was really nice and the customer service was very good.

Our room was looking a bit tired. There were some minor maintenance things like bathroom door not closing properly and a crack on the vanity counter top but it was clean and comfortable.

We stayed 2 nights and loved the accessibility to Camps Bay. It has a lovely breakfast, good deck for sunning (but get there quick as there are only 4 lounge sun beds) a pool, and you can even order room service (they use a near-by Italian restaurant which is pretty good). The staff were helpful, and lovely to chat with. Our room had a nice big wardrobe, and views of the bay. A relaxing, cozy, romantic hotel tucked a little away from the main strip.

The location is perfect - two minutes walk from the beach and main restaurants. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The free internet access is really useful to book trips etc. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The breakfast was nice and the pool/balcony was a ideal way to relax and have a sundowner after a day sightseeing. A great first impression for the first part of our honeymoon. Thanks Primi, I'd book again!
