Cool, uncluttered rooms that you actually want to spend time in. A deck that invites you to take in great beach views (and sunsets if you're lucky) while listening to the sounds of ocean surf mixed with jazz and nujazz soundtracks. Really good affiliated restaurants where you can get a nice breakfast on the house or other tasty bites and great South African wines all day long. A friendly, efficient staff that helps you navigate the hotel's offerings and Cape Town generally. A beachfront location that allows to join the international Camps Bay buzz a few steps away or just soak up its vibe in the breezy sunshine flooding your personal space (drink in hand). The Marly Hotel's got it all.

Thank you for your fantastic review - of course we are totally biased about the hotel and surrounds, but it's always wonderful to read a review when a guest embraces all that The Marly and Camps Bay have to offer.

We hope to see you again soon.

We were recommended to stay here by New Jersey friends who had celebrated their honeymoon in South Africa last year. It is ideally situated right on the sea front with easy access to the beautiful beach and numerous good quality restaurants on its doorstep. We stayed in Room 6 - Sea View Suite - for three nights. Access by car is a little tricky until you discover the entrance on the Promenade where the car park is well protected by security staff. The Marly has at least 6 parking bays reserved for guests. The welcome by Marcella and her team was fantastic and our suite gorgeous - very light airy and spacious with a large terrace overlooking the beach. Camps Bay is a lively resort so this is not the place for a quiet getaway holiday - however, given the buzzing atmosphere on your doorstep, we were never disturbed by any noise and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to people watch from the privacy of our own suite and terrace.

The soft drinks mini-bar is complimentary and we were welcomed with a bottle of SA fizz on arrival. Breakfast was served either in your room or in the nearby restaurant, ‘La Belle’. It was lovely to be personally escorted down to breakfast by the ever helpful Max. The breakfast choice was really good and all was served in a friendly and timely manner. Whilst in Camps Bay we ate out at The Codfather (overrated), La Mouette at Seapoint (always excellent) and Bilbao (really good).

In many ways we could not fault The Marly and would stay here again. That said, on our last evening, housekeeping arrived to do turn down at 1830 and we asked just to delay this for 5 minutes as we were about to go out. The team member was clearly not happy about this and mumbled under her breath and then went off in a huff. We did actually leave only a few minutes later and on returning after our evening meal found that turn down had not been completed - with glasses left unwashed, the waste bin not emptied and everything looking as though the turn down service had been rushed. We telephoned reception and politely asked that housekeeping return to complete the task. The same team member returned mumbling under her breath constantly and clearly not happy to come back. We tried to be polite, called her by her name and helped out - but she still left things unfinished. In the end, the duty manager paid us a visit and apologised profusely for the poor turn down service and in the morning the Head of House Keeping could not stop apologising. The management’s response was very positive but we left the following morning feeling that our otherwise excellent stay had been tarnished somewhat.

Room tip: Room 6 is gorgeous and has a large sun terrace overlooking the beach

The location of the Marly was perfect for exploring Camps Bay and Cape Town city centre is not far to drive to at all. All of the staff were very friendly and always willing to help with whatever you needed. The room was really spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast was included and had a very nice selection, it could even be delivered to your room. Service at breakfast could be a bit slow
Views from Chinchilla bar were incredible for watching the sunset (also very good service here).
Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again next time we are in Cape Town.
Some other reviews have complained about the pool area being too small and general size of hotel, but we felt that the website was pretty clear on these points and it lived up to what we were expecting and more. In fact the pool area got the sun most of the day and often we were the only people using it, so it felt like a private pool! A drinks service at the pool occasionally would be a nice addition, as Chinchilla does not open until 4pm.

Absolutely love it! Boutique hotel with 11 rooms it’s just perfect. Sometimes feel like you are alone walking in the corridor or laying next to swimming pool (which feels like at home). Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Swimming pool is slightly to small but heard the “gossip” that they are building one big one. :) we had mountain view room which is absolutely stunning. In the building there’s very good restaurants and bars.

We will be adding 27 more rooms to The Marly and a new deck with pool, spa and gym.

So we hope to see you again so that you can enjoy the new additions that we are planning.
