Went for my birthday for two nights at the beginning of December. Fantastic Hotel - every member of staff was helpful and knowledgeable. We were led to the fitness room by one of the room cleaners with a big smile. Arrived back to the room on the second day to a scrumptious chocolate birthday cake. We felt comfortable anywhere and everywhere – no matter what our attire was. There are nooks all over the grounds if you feel like a bit of seclusion and open areas if you want to join others. We stayed in a room with one door open to the fynbos of Table Mountain and the other door opened to a view of the Atlantic Ocean. The room was tastefully decorated enough to heighten the experience of staying somewhere completely different but not over the top. You must have a treatment in one of the double outdoor treatment gazebos. We saw whales while having sundowners which, considering how organised and accommodating everyone at the 12 Apostles was, could have been planned. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough. Start saving – I am because next time I want a room upgrade.

Today Im glad to report that since the 12 Apostles Hotel opened every return visit only gets better! Normally Hotels with such high standards and attention to detail start relaxing and drop standards after a couple of years, not this place, it has something new to offer with every visit, been going there since it opened about twice per year and nice to be regognised by such pleasant and professional Staff always eager to please and attend to your every request! Still the most breathtaking Sunset views!
Keep it up!
Always excited to return!

The Twelve Apostles promises to be something great when you review it's website...hence booking this for three nights on our honeymoon.
For one, the images show nothing of the road betwen the hotel and the ocean so we were midly disapppointed that it looked onto a busy road upon arrival.
As we drove up, the concierge couldn't have been more attentive though and promptly offered us a cold drink where we were then shown to the check in desk followed by a quick tour of the hotel by our 'host'. And while sweet and meaning well, one couldn't help but feel that she had pushed a button to hear her speal. We were then shown to our room and told we had been upgraded as were honeymooners but the room was no bigger than what we had booked. Then when we stepped inside the room we were hit with an eyeful of the brown matching bedspread, wall paper and couches which was far too OTT. The room in fairness was clean, well lit and well stocked with bathroom amenities with an incredibly comfortable bed and a view of the sea. The hotel had also placed a bottle of champagne in our room with a note to congratulate us on our marriage which was a lovely and unforgettable touch. The real disappointment came when we went to sunbathe on the loungers outside to find one heated pool (on a boiling hot day) and one super cold pool both separated from each other and with very little space to sunbathe around unless you walked up onto a viewing like platform away from the pool. There were also dirty ash trays and glasses that hadn't been cleared and no fresh towels to use. For a 5 star hotel that isn't cheap, I thought this was apalling and a shame to have one of the best views in the world spoilt by such shoddy service.
The Azure restaurant and Leopard bar were the highlights of our stay with beautiful food and fantastic service as was the spa, which while nothing to 'rave' about was a nice touch to the hotel.
In short, if visiting the Twelve Apostles for a drink or meal you would find it very pleasant but to stay, don't waste your money. There are far better hotels to try in Cape Town.

Dear Trip Advisor Reviewer

Thank you very much for staying with us and for taking the time to review The Twelve Apostles. We will take a detailed look through all your thoughts and ensure we make the appropriate changes. We do apologise that you found the pool areas to be untidy, this is certainly not the standards we aspire to and we have made immediate changes to the staffing levels and service training in these areas.

We hope you will find opportunity to return to Cape Town and we would certainly welcome the opportunity to have you stay with us again.

We didnt actually stay at the 12 Apostels but we went there for their Jet Set lunch offer. Amazing...you go on a private helicopter from the waterfront over to them. I got proposed to on said helicopter flight needless to say that was the best flight ever ! Concierge met us by the helipad and congratulated us and took us to the upstairs bar where we had champagne on the terrace. The view and the location is amazing, the sea is so blue and its really peaceful. We also got given some more champagen complimentary and some tasty mized nuts. Then we wetn to their blue restaurant for a 3 course lunch with a wine flight where the sommelier gave us 3 small glasses of different wines each after checking what types we like. The food was delicious and we got another surprise when we got give a lovely plate of chocolate cake with writing congratulations and bubbly dry ice...everyone in the hotel seemed to know we just got engaged, we never said nothing!Every single waiter in bar, outside, restaurant, concierge, reception was so nice and friendly without being in your face. After our lovely meal we went to sit by the pool in the hammock and had some coffee. We really didnt want to leave. When we dod go back to capetown we are definitely gonna stay in this beautiful hotel, loved it and thanks to the staff for a great day and amazing value on the jetset offer !

We stayed 4 nights at the Twelve Apostles as part of a two week SA holiday. The place is very expensive but the sea view suite was excellent. The location was a slight disappointment with a busy and noisy coast road directly in front of the hotel. A car or the hotel transport is required for visits to Camps Bay and Cape Town. The spa is so, so. The outside pool is very small. The bar was excellent. The front of house staff (particularly Imelda) were extremely helpful. My criticism is the restaurant. It is too small for the size of the hotel and some of the tables were too smal for two people to eat comfortably or as in the case of a table I was assigned to, I was next to a terminal for orders to be sent to the kitchen. There was also a mix up over my table booking and, frankly, we were badly treated by the restaurant staff. To be fair, the hotel apologised profusely and gave us the best table and very best service the next night (for free) but the damage was done.

We spent four nights at the Twelve Apostles. It was one of the best hotel stays we've had anywhere in the world. Couple of tips:
1) Definitely try to stay in a sea-facing room. We had a mountain-view room which we promptly upgraded because nothing beats that view. The sea-facing rooms can get a little noisy if you leave the doors open though so be mindful of that if you're sensitive to noise.

2) Use the concierge service - it's EXCELLENT. Johan runs the concierge desk. His team and him are incredible. For instance, we called and visited the Robben Island Tour desk and were told that tours were sold out for the week. Johan and his team were able to get us in. Secondly, we wanted to stay in Franschhoek (wine country) for a couple of nights. The concierge team made our hotel reservation (I gave them the name) and made all of our dinner and lunch reservations.

3) Get the Celebrations package if you can. It was actually cheaper than the normal room rack rate and included dinner in the flagship restaurant every night. We got bored of that and were told that Rand 550 would be transferred to lunch or dinner at any of the other restaurants/ bars in the hotel.

Room for improvement:
1) Though the spa is great, the massage therapists are not the best. I'm nit-picking here because they do a good job but I'd like them to make this part great too.
2) The restaurant, Azure, isn't great either. It's good / very good but not that special though again they do try very hard. Head out to Camps Bay using the free shuttles for some variety.

All in all - an incredible stay. Highly recommend this hotel in Cape Town.

Super small hotel in a great location about 5 minutes by car from Camps Bay and 20 minutes from the V&A in Cape Town.

Excellent service, wonderful views and real luxury. Would recommend the Sanctuary Spa, breakfast and dinner at the Azure Restaurant and drinks on the terrace of the Leopard Lounge as the suns sets.

We will definitely return.
