This is a lovely place to stay. It isn't well known, and is often confused with the larger Camps Bay Hotel that is a 10min walk away. The rooms are lovely with their own deck terrace that overlooks the ocean, and Table Mountain just behind. There is nothing better than sitting on the patio in the dining area and watching over the ocean with a drink! There is a lot to see in Cape Town but this hotel makes it a tough choice whether to go out and see the sights or just stay at the hotel all day. One word of caution is on the swimming pools. They aren't heated, and are rather small, so are more suited to a quick cool-down than to a swim. The service is slow, but no more so than any of the other places we went to or stayed at, and not so slow that it gets annoying.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our honeymoon and really did fall in love with this place. The deck house room was beautiful with a fantastic view of the ocean, the main house with all the staff and restuarant made us feel very at home!

Camps Bay is a beautiful area away from the city of Cape Town and it was only a short drive to the Victoria docks.

Would love to visit again one day.

My husband and I have the most wonderful luxurious stay in Camps Bay Retreat. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for us, the gardens were a treat and the food amazing.
A great location for lounging around in the fantastic Camps Bay. Couldn't recommend it more for a honeymoon destination.

We have just returned from a week's stay at the Camps Bay Retreat and had a great time. We found the staff friendly and attentive - often arranging tours or reservations at short notice.

Our suite in the Deck House was huge - there was no utentials or pans in the kitchen which made the cooker a bit pointless - but hey, we were on holiday and had no plans to cook ourselves!

The location is great for both Camps Bay and Cape Town - we had a hire car but the open top bus gives good links to all the attractions in the area.

The evening meals were good, although the menu doesn't vary that much from night to night. With some great restaurants in the area this does not cause any problems.

Overall, a great, laid back hotel.

Now i will get the negatives out of the way first as they shouldn't detract from the overall impresssion. The staff it must be said were not the greatest but then in the whole two weeks in SA they were all the same which is a shame but it's nothing to cry about. There was also a little annoyance with getting a gate key and the gateman being asleep at 4am. However if i was to go to cape town again i would stay here without a doubt, location is amazing and speaking to capetonians at the wedding we were at they would say camp's bay was the best part of cape town. What more could you ask for peace and quiet and then great beaches bars and restaurants a 5-10min stroll down the hill. We spent 3 nights here and then 2 at the commodore on the V&A Waterfront and seriously regretted having moved, you really can do all the cape town highlights easily from here. We stayed in room 2 of the main hotel, which was perfect as it looked out to sea and over the main garden. Contrary to the man before our beds were turned down every night and all sorts of other great touches like, a cold bottle of water deposited each night on the side table and a tin of homemade biscuits on the corner table. breakfast was lovely and the outside restaurant has such a fab view that even if the service is a little slow you should be relaxing anyway as you are on holiday!
