We recently spent a few nights at the Camps Bay Retreat and really enjoyed our stay. The location is stunning with amazing views of the sea, the gardens are beautiful and well maintained with a private meditation pool, which is such a treat to see and enjoy. We stayed in one of the rooms inside the manor house so our room was a mix of traditional furnishings with a very modern bathroom. We loved meeting the dogs and couldn't help becoming very attached to Wanda. The service was excellent and food superb. The only disappointment was that we didn't have more time to spend at the retreat. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant, we will be back!

Room Tip: Room #4 has an open plan bedroom and bathroom which may not suit everyone.

We stayed 3 nights early November. The location near the beach, in a forest is perfect. Between breakfast on the veranda, walks on the beach and walks in the on grounds forest we had a great time. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Amazing place, arrived early in the morning direct from airport, and we only had to wait less than 30 mins for our amazing deck house to be ready. Beautifully set in the back drop to table mountain. Had an amazing steak the first night, in the old manor, and the weather was great, so we had breakfast outside overlooking the bay each morning. Looked after our every need, organised our wine trip, had romantic treats in the room every night. Had a great car service which we used occasionally. Staff were all very helpful and friendly, and Bernard made an amazing mojito !! The perfect start to our 3 week honeymoon, and would defo recommend it to friends. the deck house (no8), was just perfect, and the place has limited rooms, so ideal, compared to a big hotel. very intimate and homely. dogs were lovely too !

Room Tip: Defo ask for one of the desk houses, over the rope bridge at the back of the big house

We had one last night in Cape Town on October 26th, and we booked CBR at the last minute based on other TR reviews. Our only regret is that we didn't allow for more time here. The superior room we stayed in at the Deck House was perfect, open floor plan with jetted tub. Hotel has stunning views of the beach, location is ideal (just a 10 minute walk down the hill to the beach and Camps Bay bars), and a hanging bridge connects one side of the retreat with the other. They also have a couple dogs roaming around that are super friendly and a great addition. The whole place was very relaxing and we loved it, start to finish.

Kirsti couldn't have been nicer in accommodating us and showing us around, and reservations worked with us to get us a stay at the last minute. Service was great.

Taking in the ocean views at the manor with a cup of coffee on the last morning of our trip was a little bittersweet, but a perfect way to end our trip. Definitely a great spot that we'll frequent if we make it back to South Africa and Cape Town again!

Camps Bay Retreat was added as a way to relax after safari camps, 3 days in Cape Town by the harbor and 2 days in Franschhoek. We so loved our rooms/suite (Room one) that we were sorry that we had only booked for one night. The view from the many windows was exceptional. Woods and ocean! The decor was elegant but comfortable. We enjoyed sitting outside on our veranda. The old Life magazines of movie stars were in keeping with the decor and we had our own fireplace. We found the staff delightful and accommodating to all of our requests. The Manor itself had lovely rooms which made you feel at home. We enjoyed walking out through the back gate and ending up in Camps Bay by the shops and beachfront. And the breakfast choices were creative combinations and so delicious! We left Camps Bay Retreat for the airport home and felt that we had saved the best hotel for our last evening!

If you want to splash out and treat yourselves and are looking for luxury, beauty & tranquility then a stay in this hotel is a must! Everything about this place is of five star standard but what is extra special is that they still manage to keep the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. The staff couldn't have been nicer. One thing you must like however if you are thinking about staying at this hotel is dogs ;). They have 5 dogs which, for us, were one of the highlights of our stay at Camps Bay Retreat hotel.

I fell in love with this property just over 2 years ago and even had our fairytale-like wedding there. We made the guest list small enough so that we could fit into this perfect location - it's nestled in a private nature reserve with a cascading pool from the turn of the century hidden in the lush surroundings. Ask Ben, Bella and Wanda (very attentive hotel dogs) to accompany you there ;-) The chef, Robyn, is phenomenal - she is young, dynamic and knows where to source the best produce. My recommendation - for dinner try the chalmar beef with a perfect pepper sauce. The wine selection is also fab and not ridiculously priced. The rooms are diverse - in the Earl's Dyke (Manor House) you'll find rooms which stay true to the style of the house - old romantic and great art collection throughout. The rooms across the hanging bridge are more modern - room 6 is an apartment essentially and great for longer stays. The tennis court is the only privately owned one I know of on the Atlantic Seaboard and you can watch the sunset over the ocean as you perfect your serve.

Room Tip: Room 6 is perfect for longer stays (across the bridge) as it's an apartment with a full kitchen.
