What a surprise find The Crystal was! the staff are very friendly and helpful - always willing to help even if it means phoning local restaurants to make booking for you! The rooms are amazing with great views and very well fitted out. it isn't exactly on the beach, but is still within a reasonable walk of the promenade and restaurants. A great feature of The Crystal is the access that they give you to the Bay Hotel's pools and gym and sauna etc which is all immediately across the road from the beach. We were also able to use the Bay Hotel's shower rooms to get changed before flying out. All in - a great place to stay!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the top floor rooms to get the best views.

Spent 6 nights here in the loft apartment in January. fabulous views;so much so we cancelled our dinner at 12 Apostles and ate on the balcony.

Really comfortable beds. Excellent helpful staff who are quietly attentive. Top marks.

Room Tip: The loft apartment is noisy if it is very windy but has, obviously, a better view..

The place felt secure including the car park area with designated space. Once we were shown into the apartment, we were delightfully pleased with the décor and facilities. It is also located in a very good part of Camps Bay which made it easier to move around Cape Town. The views with both the mountain and sea were lovely.

Other positives is the availability of transport from the Bay Hotel back to the apartment if required and we were especially chauffeur-driven in a Porsche and we felt like celebrities! The staff were very helpful and housekeeping service excellent. When we reported problems, it was swiftly dealt with, without any fuss.

Great accommodation option and great place to stay. Would definitely book again if we return to Cape Town.

We were a little daunted by the entrance and reception in an underground car park, but when we went to up to our studio we were really impressed. The decor, facilities and view were lovely. We found the self catering option really good, especially for breakfast and the housekeeping service was excellent. The staff were very attentive to our needs and we were most impressed with the chauffer-driven Porsche which whisked us up and down to the Bay Hotel - he even took us on a little joy ride up to Table Mountain! Didn't turn a hair when we piled in with our shopping from the local supermarket. You definitely do need to hire a car which we did on our second day and then we felt we were really well placed to explore the area. Would definitely book it again if we return to Cape Town.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor so had easy access to the pools and had a larger garden area to sit out...

We were very happy with the apartment, location, cleaning services etc. I would strongly recommend the accomodation. However, many people take wifi availability into account when booking accomodation..for easy use of tripadvisor for example. This is especially important if you are a visitor to the country where data roaming charges restrict cellular use. Wifi was effectively unusable ..either not available at all or indicating usage had been exceeded when that was clearly not the case..for an entire week, including two weekends according to other guests. This period of outage is unacceptable ..I poor lady at the desk did her best to placate us, but management help seemed to be in absence, and their wifi service provider seemed inept an non responsive in the extreme.

If it want for the Internet situation and the poor follow up to the problems, this would b a 5 star review.

Dear David C

Thank you for your review. I completely understand your frustration with the unreliable Wifi. Unfortunately we rely on an outsourced service provider whom disappointed us during our peak period. We are looking into an alternative back up plan should we ever experience this problem again.

My sincere apologies for the poor communication and delay in solving this problem we can only improve on the feedback we receive and the struggles we are presented with.

We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind Regards
Chantel Wessels

It is a self-catering place, I always like this option that let me feels I'm at home.
The view is magnificent, close to Table Mountain and looking on the other side at the ocean.
It is a ten minutes walk to Camps Bay village and shops and a short drive to Cape Town restaurants, in the center or at Gardens, the residential trendy district.
There is not much negative to say, apart that in our unit, the internet access was extremely bad and the option of payment are by the gigabytes volume, not time, and you don't know what that exactly means. The windows have no shutters and when the sun is strong, only the air-con will save you from the heat. Curtains where there is none, would save some electricity...
When one orders a taxi, it is a better choice to give the adress as 35 Woodford street (where the entrance is) and taxis will come after sometime 40 minutes of waiting time.
The value for you money is excellent and this is the place I will like to book again.
Of course there is not room-service, it's a self-catering place, but the apartment will be looked after during week days.

Location:
Located high above the beach, a 10 minutes walk to the beach and the shops (be aware that going down to the beach is easy, going back up the hill is more demanding). Nice views of the ocean and the twelve apostles from the apartment.

Pool:
2 pools, one small, the other one large. Both unheated so quite chilly. Only few chairs so when it gets crowded no free chairs are available.

Apartment:
Very nice modern décor, relatively large living area. I think the decoration is really great for a holiday apartment. There are lots of cabinets in the bedrooms. Unfortunately only in one of the 2 bedrooms there is air condition. There is also a large balcony with great views on the ocean.
Unfortunately the washing machine did not work, but staff was very helpful and gave me an alternative - which I really appreciated.

Service:
Friendly staff, but remember this is a self-catering place so do not expect 5-star hotel service. In fact there is only limited service available. However I must say the staff always tried to sort things out and were always very friendly.

Overall a nice alternative to the hotels in Camps Bay – I personally would return, very good value for money!
