“Services left so much to be desired”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

We were invited for Dinner to Ocean Blue by friends whom we hadn't seen in a long time. We had a great evening in great company.
We had made a reservation - which could not be found, but that wasn't really a problem as we were seated promptly.
Sadly the service was very slow and left room for improvement. Our waiter was hardly around, we always needed to try and get their attention and if somebody came it felt as if they were doing us a favor. We weren't informed of the specials of the day, what the line fish was nor what wasn't available....which was the Tuna we wanted to order.
Stater prices are reasonable and you basically get what you pay for......out friends had Sole and Kingklip for main and said it was average, our Calamari and Salmon were ok. The waiter poured our first glass of wine for us. ( Mine she poured in the water glass which had already a slice of lemon in) For the rest of the evening we had to pour our own wine as the waiter was never around. The restaurant doesn't have ice bucket stands, so the wine cooler has to stand on the Table - which is quite big and in the way. We were asked what we want for the dessert.....my response was, if we could please see the dessert menu so we know what is on offer.
All in all I can imagine it can be a relaxed restaurant with good food, but the service has lots of room for improvement, especially in comparison to other restaurants in Cape Town.

“Good food and good food”
Reviewed September 29, 2012 via mobile

This was our first meal in S Africa, the staff helpfully re arranged a table to enable us to sit at the front watching the sunset, the food was good and reasonably priced, would be happy to return.

“Reasonable food but nothing special”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

We ate dinner here one evening - the food was reasonable but nothing special, and the prices didn't seem particularly cheaper than anywhere else along the Camps Bay main road.

“This is my first negative Trip Advisor review”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

We went to Ocean Blue based on Trip Advisor reviews -- and the food was excellent. Although we never had dessert because we couldn't find our server to ask for it. So we decided to ask for our check. Despite asking another server to have our waiter bring our check, ten minutes later we stood up without a check and asked again and a check appeared. The owner?/manager? was around for part of the evening watching sports on tv but not appearing to care. We've had many fine meals with excellent service in South Africa, so this was a major disappointment.

Very good local seafood well cooked and served. Large serves meant no one went hungry. Great chips and vegetables
