We were invited for Dinner to Ocean Blue by friends whom we hadn't seen in a long time. We had a great evening in great company.
We had made a reservation - which could not be found, but that wasn't really a problem as we were seated promptly.
Sadly the service was very slow and left room for improvement. Our waiter was hardly around, we always needed to try and get their attention and if somebody came it felt as if they were doing us a favor. We weren't informed of the specials of the day, what the line fish was nor what wasn't available....which was the Tuna we wanted to order.
Stater prices are reasonable and you basically get what you pay for......out friends had Sole and Kingklip for main and said it was average, our Calamari and Salmon were ok. The waiter poured our first glass of wine for us. ( Mine she poured in the water glass which had already a slice of lemon in) For the rest of the evening we had to pour our own wine as the waiter was never around. The restaurant doesn't have ice bucket stands, so the wine cooler has to stand on the Table - which is quite big and in the way. We were asked what we want for the dessert.....my response was, if we could please see the dessert menu so we know what is on offer.
All in all I can imagine it can be a relaxed restaurant with good food, but the service has lots of room for improvement, especially in comparison to other restaurants in Cape Town.
