The Hotel has been found on the Internet, we decided booking based on the design and style of the rooms, and due to the location close to the beach and the sunset strip in Camps Bay. We were travelling the whole Western Provinz for 7 days and the Hotel was our central "home" base during this vacation trip.
We're planning to visit this Hotel again in ZA's spring season...

Dear Ralf

Thank you for posting such a positive review regarding your stay at POD Camps Bay.

As you mention, we are the only small, modern styled property property within such close proximity to the beach and restaurant strip in Camps Bay.

I am thrilled to hear that we became your home base from which to explore our beautiful province.

Warm regards,

Brendan Boyle

We arrived quite late after a very long day of travel and the way they handled our check in showed straight away that we were in for great service. They understood we were exhausted and just wanted to crash into bed so provided us a very speedy and warm welcome!

There are so many little complementary touches that we loved about this place. The little treats left daily in the room (nuts, chocolates etc), the fact that they set you up on the beach with chairs, towels, umbrella’s, free ironing service and just the way the staff were so very helpful made this trip a brilliant ending to our 7 weeks of honeymoon travel.

The room was extremely comfortable, love the design and it was a really tranquil relaxing space. After 7 weeks of different types of showers, the one in our room was divine. Such a beautiful space! The breakfast options are terrific and my eggs were cooked to perfection each morning. Loved trying the juice of the day each morning.

The front desk made our daily adventures super easy! They not only suggested we book online for Table Mountain but went ahead and did this for us which saved us a lot of time when we go there. They booked a fantastic private tour at short notice, provided a great beach pack and set up our umbrella for us on the beach. We also enjoyed the little snacks in the evening in the lounge area and overall we got the sense that nothing would be too much to ask as they did everything with a smile.

We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great home base to get out and enjoy Camps Bay and all of Cape Town. Brilliant location making it easy to get anywhere.

We also highly recommend that any of the tours you do or airport transfers....ask for Riaz! Legend guy, brilliant service and very well priced.

Room Tip: The room we had didn't have much by way of windows so we didn't get any views however this w...

Dear Annie & Matthew

Wow, I really enjoy reading reviews such as this - what a great way to end the week!

Thank you for taking the time to compose such a detailed report on your recent stay at POD Camps Bay.

I appreciate the praise on the complimentary touches as we have spent a lot of time thinking about how we can add value to ones stay. It's great to hear that these touches had such a positive impact on you.

I loved the comment about you getting a sense that nothing would be too much to ask as this is spot on! Every single member of the POD team was chosen for their "can do" approach to any guest request.

I am thrilled that you enjoyed the trips with Riaz and I have to agree that he is one of the best guides that Cape Town has to offer.

Warm regards,

A very warm and professional welcome when arriving at this lovely decorated place. The room was nice, though there have been some design errors, such as the wooden floor too close to the shower, but this is anecdotic.

Our most deception was that the product shown on the website does not match with the reality !

We booked at POD mostly for the private pool on the room terrace. The pictures on the POD website are taken in such a manner that the facing 6 storeys building, the lack of privacy caused by pedestrians having direct eye access to your pool erased most of the positive points.

Furthermore, those rooms are located closed to the reception desk and are poorly noise protected, so be ready for short night.

Should we go back there, this will definitely not be in the ground floor room with private pool !

Room Tip: Avoid the very expensive room with private pool and ask for an ocean view last floor

Dear Sebastien

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Tripadvisor.

Constructive criticism is always appreciated as it allows us to adapt, change and refine our product offering.

I have noted your points on the privacy and noise in the luxury rooms with private pools and I am currently addressing both. I am sorry to hear that the room did not live up to your expectations.

With our property being a design hotel, there are a few design errors such as timber meeting stone in the bathroom section. Through feedback we have managed to identify and resolve most of these issues and we will be attending to the balance during our refurbishment this winter.

I am glad to hear that you felt that welcome, service and professionalism from the team were up to standard.

Warm regards,

Brendan Boyle

We found POD on the internet looking for a place in Camps Bay for 5 nights march 2014. First impression was the design;- looking amazingly.
We were definitly not disapointed. The staff met us very friendly, and the design was even more amazing than pictures on the internet. We had one night upgraded in front room with balcony and both ocean and mountain view. Excellent++!
The rest of the nights we spent in mountainview room with no balcony. Even that ok.
The beds were superb, complimentary minbar is a plus. Delicious breakfast in beautiful surroundings, warm pool with cool designbeds. And at last but very important; the staff. Friendly, silent and very helpful. My husband had his birthday and we were even met with sparkling wine and chocolate in our room that evening:-) Highly recommended and first choice if we come back:-))

Room Tip: Front room with balcony is best, but if you can`t afford the beds and bathrooms are excellent in mou...

We spent 2 days of our "mini-moon" at POD and the service, attention and special touches we got were so well thought out and a little unexpected... We love the POD and would have spent more time there if we didn't have to fly back home. In short, both my new husband and I were extremely pleased with the service we received. Shame Brian was not around when we left coz we wanted to leave him a thank you tip... Next time hey :-)

Agree with all the other reviews in that POD hotel met and beat every expectation ... The staff were all incredible - attentive and met all our needs.. We decided to hire a car at the last minute and the reception desk organised one for us within minutes - no fuss. This was just one of many examples.

Highly recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay again if I visit Cape Town again :)

...but if they did then they'd probably be the best hotels in the world.

No, strike that, POD would still be on top.

I love The Milestone in London, The Mandarin Oriental on Tokyo and The Ritz Carlton in Bahrain, all for different reasons. POD managed to surpass all of them.

You can tell by all the other reviews here that the service, location, style etc is all excellent. This you can find at other hotels, although it's peculiarly rare - particularly with any consistency. What really made POD outstanding for me was the extra mile that they go for their customers in all cases.

They've thought about this - it's not just one or two of the staff who are particularly helpful (although they all are). Forgotten the charger for your cell phone? No problem, they have a selection to lend you. Car rental company ran out of GPS? POD will just lend you one of theirs (cheaper that way too)! Caught in the rain? Tea and blankets will help. Checked out already but leaving later for a flight? Have a spare room to shower and change before heading off. Oh and of course if they notice it's your birthday (I assume from the passport at check-in?) there'll be fizz and chocolates in your room to celebrate.

You get the picture - absolutely top notch in all respects. Thank you POD for having us, I'm looking forward to coming back.

PS Even if everything else was terrible we'd go back for the breakfast.

PPS Special thanks to Kota (sorry, I'm probably spelling that wrong) for looking after us at breakfast and throughout the day in the lounge.

Dear Andrew

What an awesome review, I loved the title...

I am elated to hear that POD is at the top of your list of favorite hotels, especially considering the names of the properties that you mention in your review.

Going the extra mile is what we are all about and our caring "can do" approach is what really sets us apart from other hotels. I am fortunate and privileged to have such a phenomenal team in place at POD.

Thanks for noting the little extras such as the chargers, GPS units, sunscreen and our late departure room. We have tried as mush as possible to anticipate what people need and constantly evolve our value adds in this regard.

I have relayed your feedback to Kudzai, he is thrilled to have been mentioned.

Warmest regards,

Brendan Boyle

Cool beyond question is POD Camps Bay. A true Africa original realised in a stunning set of decor elements, POD is both raw yet polished. See naked Africa design timber dropping into stone, shifting into glass, imbuing a sense of seaside sophistication so often attempted but so rarely achieved. 17 modern suites and rooms share the spoils of idyllic mountain and ocean views. Truly surprising is POD's proximity to the famous and ever energised Camps Bay beachfront, just a few light footsteps away.
