On arrival were questioned multiple times “if we had a booking” - It was obvious that because we were under 60 and not in golf clothes we were not the usual clientele (mid thirties / professional clothing).
Once the staff actually looked at the bookings they saw we did have a booking - until that point they were adamant we didn’t.

Overall the food was average wrapped up in a conservative colonial facade - any modern liberal diner should steer clear (we wish we did).
We have eaten in most of cape towns top restaurants and it’s clear this establishment is refusing to keep up with the modern progressive times of this great city.
The food is AVERAGE.
The staff (bar the manager) are great.
The establishment is colonial and uncomfortable (unless you’re white, western and above 50).

Instead pleased eat at :
Shortmarket club
Sea breeze
Pot luck club
Kloof st house

Everything about this visit was a treat. We got a taxi out from Cape Town Waterfront area and the drive over was incredibly picturesque. If only we had more time in Cape Town we would definitely have returned for lunch.

The service was attentive, waiter was very knowledgeable on the menu. Food was devine.

We went to Azure for a friend's 50th birthday and came away wanting more.
Although the staff were all friendly when present, The service was very slow with long delays for starters and main course and slowwwww wine service.
The food was nice but some of the portions were tiny ! Two of the table went for Springbok and received three tiny slices of the meat with a few blobs of purree and corn along side.

After such high hopes the evening ended flat and took some of the joy out of the 50th birthday evening

four of us went to dinner at Azure. we are all foodies and eat out a lot in London. we were shocked at the size of portions of first course. they came in enormous bowls, but the tiniest amount of food and certainly not remarkable. My wife had calamari which was virtually one mouthful, one calamari cut into slices on a tiny bed of rice. I had a chicken dish which was so small, it was two mouthfuls. our friends had similar experiences. the main course I had prawn stroganoff, totally tasteless, no seasoning, and very few prawns. Two people had steaks which were good, but then steaks are very good everywhere in South Africa. the fourth main course was sea bass which was tiny which arrived on a very large plate with no garnish whatsoever. We did not bother with sweets as by this time we were very disappointed. As for it being Michelin standard, this is absolute nonsense, we have eaten in many Michelin star restaurants and this does not come anywhere near it. the best part of the whole meal was the bread. The staff were lovely, but Azure should be ashamed of themselves.

We arrive at the 12 Apostles Hotel on the Sunday and what a surprise to discovr that the Azure Restaurant on the 1st floor had a buffet and also served Sunday Roast. Really delicious food in a very cosy surrounding with a delightful staff. Friendly, polite and efficient. All at a very reasonnable price. Definitely a try if in Cape Town
