WHAT A FIND!!!
A true gem in the Karoo. Edith, owner welcomed us with a cup of Moer koffie in the lush garden then showed us to our authentic Turkish room. The other rooms are decorated and named 'The Greek Room' 'Country Room' and 'African Room'. Our room was in the Roof of the Thatch and it overlooked the garden. Be warned a open plan room and bathroom with a victorian bath showing off as the centre piece.
We later joined the other diners in the lovely restaurant. We sat in the newly build french room which was filled with warmth from the fireplace. We had prawns to start and then their famous Lamb Trio and shared a kombuispudding.
While waiting for our meal had a browse in the little Shop that offers all sorts of things...Kombuis kassies, preserves, Turkish lanterns, Hungarian scarves...you name it and more, its all there.
We had a lovely nights rest and had breakfast (a fry up served in a pan along with freshly baked bran muffins) in the breakfast room which was filled with Karroo sun.
Like I said, its not a 5 star, but a true find that will make you feel you have just slipped off the N1 and into a Oasis of surprises. Well worth a visit.
