Owner description: Chapman’s Peak Drive toll road winds its way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay on the Atlantic Coast on the south-western tip of South Africa. Chapman’s Peak Drive is one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world. Chapman’s Peak Drive is affectionately known as #Chappies.

You MUST take this drive when you are in Cape Town. The scenes are breathtaking, with ocean on one side and mountains on another. You'll end up stopping multiple times on the roadside to take in all the views. Its a toll-road, slightly expensive but totally worth every penny. One of the best marine drives in the world undoubtedly.
Best done on a clear day.

If you are visiting the Cape, you must make this drive. The view is breathtaking all along the entire route. When you arrive at the lookout point, you can see for miles, and the scenery is unbelievable. I could have spent hours just staring at all the beautiful landscape.

We've taken many coastal drives but none as majestic as our trip to Cape Point. Chapman's Peak is a toll road that is under a 6 mile drive but has 114 curves. I suggest doing it on a Sunday so you can stop at the roadside markets. You should also drop by Boulders Beach to see the African Penguins.

The one thing that will raise hackles about Chapman's Peak Drive amongst the locals (including honorary ones like the Vaalies) is the toll charge to drive along something that we've already paid for - through the nose, of course, all of us, if you'll pardon the expression.

So why pay for great views, reasonable roads, incidental rockfalls and busloads of tourists? Well, because its there and if you haven't been there lately, it should be on your list, if you can afford it. 'Nuff said.
