Owner description: The Gary Player Golf Course needs no introduction. This world-renowned course was designed by Gary Player, and is the home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, now part of the European Tour Race to Dubai. This picturesque 18 hole, par 72 walking course is surrounded by a 5km scenic running trail. Since its opening in 1979, the course has been acknowledged as South Africa's premier championship test of golf. The home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge since 1981, this immaculately groomed layout has received rave reviews from the world's top golfers, who agree that it is both demanding and fair. This course has been consistently rated as one of the best in South Africa, and compares with the best in the world. The first course in South Africa to be constructed to stringent USGA specifications, this layout is famed for its length (over 7000 metres from the championship tees), its dramatic backdrops of the Pilanesberg Mountains, and its spectacular indigenous vegetation that flanks the fairways. The first facility in South Africa to be built with multiple tees, the course can be enjoyed by golfers of all levels of skill, but even from the forward tees it remains a challenge. A distinguishing feature of the course is its greens complexes which allows for interesting pin positions on the clover-shaped putting surfaces protected by strategically placed bunkers.

“Gary Player Golf Course”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

Played 3 rounds including one with a hail stone shower which made it interesting! Great course and enjoyed it very much, always good to play on a Championship course the pro's play on. Don't make the mistake I did and leave your wallet in the bag as discovered some cash missing, my mistake so be cautious.

“Fantastic high quailty course”
Reviewed March 24, 2012

Top course.
Experienced quailified caddies to assist.
This course is a walking course.
Take a few extra balls as the rough is very rough.
Lunch and drnk is included in the green fee...so that nice....but is an expensive course to play by South African standards- but those earning Dollars or Euro's wont think its too bad.

“Long... so long...”
Reviewed March 8, 2012

The Gary Player is a typical championship golf course. It is long, hard, actually very long and very hard…

It is indeed a walking course, so when it is hot, you are going to suffer. Holes are miles long, green are very difficult and if you score around your handicap, you are a very good player.

Food is awful, but the facilities are decent, the caddies are ok. No driving range, which is weird for the standard of this course.

“Great golf but a hot, long, walk”
Reviewed January 11, 2012

No more buggies allowed at GP course so if you find walking a long course difficult then rather play Lost City. The distances between greens and tees can be long and in the heat it's a bit of hard work!
