Enjoyed a superb round at this amazing golf course, it's architecture is out of this world. The course is a challenge but worth the experience . All keen golfers should play this course.

Only sampled the cocktails here whilst my brother in law played golf. Worth a trip for the amazing views and fantastic cocktails.

Played on a Saturday morning it was so, so busy. The view looking down the first is fantastic. The fairways and greens were in fantastic condition. Caddies are optional, I had a GPS and that was good enough. Carts, drink and a meal included in the price. It cost 1300R for 2.
They had some interesting holes-very sharp dog legs, many holes you had to hit over trees, and a
all the par 3 interesting and challenging especially the 13th where the is a pond surrounding 1/2 the green that has 8 crocodiles in it. If your ball goes in there it stays there. You cannot see the pond from the tee area it's not until you get to the bottom of the hill you see the sign. I actually saw 2 and they are very large.
The bunkers lack sand, it was more like a red earth and fairly ordinary. Some were designed poorly and near to impossible to get out of, eg lips at the back of the bunker so if your ball landed near them you had no option but to hit backwards or hope that it moved away from the wall with the first shot.
On the 8th they give you a menu with a good selection of food. You order and when you get to the 9th your meal is ready for you. None of this paper bag take away stuff. I had a spinach and cheese pie, it was cooked in a bowl with a pastry lid served with salad and chips on big plates and silver cutlery.
I thoroughly enjoyed the day but my husband hated it. We were spoiled by playing The Gary Player course first, now that was 1st class, Sun City GC cannot compare.
You must hit the fairways here otherwise you will be looking for balls all day.
Try not to play on Saturday it took just over 5.5 hours to play a round and on the front nine there was a lot of waiting. For some reason it seemed to of thinned out on the back but still far too long to play a round.
Went back on monday to buy some gear at the pro shop before leaving and there was nobody there so my suggestion would be play any day except Saturday.

To be honest, our group planned to play both the Gary Player and Lost city courses during our stay in April 2013 and I was looking forward to the Gary Player course more, given the annual Nedbank Challenge being played there. I thought the Lost City course would be second rate and made more for the higher handicap players who couldn't take on the Gary Player challenge. How misguided I was.

As a solid 5 marker, the Lost City course was both challenging, rewarding, forgiving and spectacular. A lot has been said of the 13th hole with the croc's, but what about the rest of the holes with the views and challenges. We opted not to take a caddie which only miodly hampered us on one or two holes i.e. there is a par five dogleg left and a short par 4 dogleg right that having a caddie would be of assistance, but other than that, a caddie really isn't necessary.

The 4th hole is the par 5 which only requires a tee shot of about 200 metres, then a sharp left hand turn up the hill will leave you a solid 3-5 wood to an elevated green. I pulled my tee shot to the far left side of the fairway thinking I would be in trouble, but it was centre cut, in perfect position (a caddie would have been handy on that one). The only other hole where a caddie would have been handy was the par 4 10th (I think). This is a clever little hole with a blind tee shot which turns right up the mountain. You can cut the corner, but don't cut too much or you won't find your ball.

Overall, the Lost City course is a memorable experience. As a golf purist, there is something very special about the Gary Player course, but to be honest, if I return to Sun City with 2 games of golf in mind, I will most certainly make at least one, if not both games at the Lost City. I have attached some snappy picks for perusal as there isn't many around.
