The rates they asked pointed to 4 star (even 5 star quality). I would rate it 3 star. Food average to poor. Don't use the SPA on site, You are guaranteed a painful reflexology session by a person who does not know annything about reflexology at all!
Rather look around in that area. There are quite a number of places that will give you better at half the charges.

My Wife and I spend 3 days at this resort. The room was comfortable and clean but outdated, and the bath in our room was probably the most shallow one they could find. I think this could have been a 4 star in the 80's or 90's, but NOT anymore. The staff is not properly "4 star" trained, and we had about 3 different waiters attending to us, while trying to order a simple cocktail on their menu. The swimming pool area is a really relaxing and clean area to spend the day.The food was good, although they had a problem with flies....which was really spoiling the good food and atmosphere. I will not stay here again, because of what you get for the price. This should be downgraded to a 3 star, and the price accordingly.
I give it a poor rating for reason being that it is suppose to be 4 star....and for a 4 star establishment ....it is really not up to standard.

We spent one night here as we joined up for a family get together. The room was really nice - standard hotel look and feel but all good quality and clean.

The resort also has many activities - golf etc. but we mainly hung by the pool which was a lot of fun. The staff went out of their way to cater impromptu for our family that evening - they prepared so much yummy food for us within a short period of time and created a nice vibe for everyone.

The staff are very friendly - especially at reception where they are very helpful. The staff that work at the pool bar were also great. I saw some groups who had their conferences there and people playing soccer and golf. There is plenty to do.

Overall I would recommend it as a place to stay when you are in the Rustenburg area.

Lovely surroundings, friendly staff. Great location between Gauteng and Suncity. Value for money and star grading, I would think, NOT. Standard rooms need serious upgrade. I would not reconmend this property unless desperate for family outing.

My wife and I visited the hotel as a quick breakaway. We enjoyed staying here, the food was good an the room was nice and clean. There is a lot of things to do at the hotel, wish we could stay longer to make use of all the facilities. We will be back and suggest it to family and friends.

Stayed at the Hunters Rest for a meeting. It is a beautiful place, I love the wide spaces, the lawns, the dinning area, the pool and gyms. Some of the rooms are quite superb while others were actually quite tine. Mine was a sort of in-between. Overall I really enjoyed my stay although at some point the internet connectivity for about two days was quite a challenge in the meeting hall which was very frustrating.
Its a great place if you want to get away from hustle and bustle and get some me time.

Room Tip: Request for the newer rooms especially from room 19 to the 40s have very spacious rooms.

We recently stayed at Hunters Rest as a family with small children.. The facilities are very good with lots of activities for kids. The food is fantastic and staff accomodating.
However the resort and especially the rooms are really showing the very old age.
The rooms are in serious need of maintenance from broken locks, non operational sliding doors, taps leaking, toilets leaking, doors squeeking, TV remotes not working, shower heads poor, mould in showers, shower doors jamming, beds obviously not moved and cleaned underneath for months, nests removed but no clean up of the mud on the walls, noisy aircons in the dining room etc etc.
The prices are very expensive for what you get - there is much better value to had out there!
