Our family of 5 (3 adults and 2 children) stayed in one of the timeshare chalets in July. I would recommend Bakubung to anyone. Checking in was a bit slower that expected. Due to unforseen circumstances we arrived a lot earlier than expected. Even though they knew we were there waiting, we were the last ones to be able to check in. Just thought they could rush the cleaning a bit. Apart from that we had a really great time. The chalet was clean and comfortable and the service great. The food at the restaurant was delicious and I would highly recommend it. The restaurant has a very nice and welcoming atmosphere. Was a bit disappointed that they had the fire going in only one of the two rooms at the bar, especially after we got back from the night drive. The nearby watering hole kept the kids busy and entertained with all the animals visiting, especially the warthog family. They offer a junior ranger course for the kids to keep them entertained and took them on a game drive, an excellent idea. Overall a good experience and won't hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed here during our vacation trip and we really enjoyed. The safari tour was awesome as we could spot most of the animals in wild life. The room itself is so cossy and well decorated. Restaurant is excellent with various delicasy and good blend of various menus. It's an excellent trip.

We hired two chalets which were pretty good value and well equipped. The main restaurant was a little disappointing but not awful. We may have been unfortunate with the game viewing but on our experiences I would always prefer madikwe.

We stayed in the time share chalets at Bakubung in July. We found them to be clean and well furnished, although the living area was a bit small. Bakubung is a beautiful lodge situated right at a waterhole. At night we sighted African Civet at the waterhole and a herd of elephants came to the lower waterhole one afternoon - due to the placement of the chalets in a "U" shape, we could walk along the boundary fence to about 20m away from the herd. Bakubung is well-placed in the Pilanesberg reserve with quick access either into the main park or to shops or Sun City nearby. The staff at Bakubung were very friendly and helpful and contributed to the positive experience. Our only complaint was the behaviour of rangers doing game drives from other camps or from outside the reserve - they disregarded bush etiquette at sightings and their passengers were extremely noisy at sightings, e.g. shouting to each other across the vehicles at a lion sighting. This is not the fault of Bakubang, however, but stricter management of people in the reserve is indicated. Overall, our stay at Bakubung was a wonderful experience and we would definitely make a plan to return.

Room Tip: Chalets on the southern side get lovely afternoon sun in winter - definitely better than the chalets on the north. We stayed in chalet 204 which was well situated.

One of the real highlights of our South Africa trip, the stay and the safari organized by "the people of the Hippo" was excellent. Rooms are classical high-ceiling , thatched with all amenities ( like free Wi-Fi). Breakfast spread was amazing with live counters for eggs and pancakes. Safari guides were well informed and friendly and we managed to see most animals except for the Cape Buffalo and Leopard.(Yes, managed to a couple of lionesses!). The dinner in the camp was excellent.
All in all, excellent value for the money spent.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the waterhole. Good chance of seeing wildlife while sipping your morning coffee!
