We stop there on the way to Namibia and coming back. We felt every welcome by the couple on arrival and the place was very peaceful. We spent most of our time sitting by the pool (it would be nicer if the pool was filled more but I'm sure they have their reasons). They have plenty of rooms and serve a really nice breakfast. There are braai facilities and the rooms are equipped with a fridge and aircon, room 23 even had their own kitchen. We were grateful that their covered markings were high enough as we were in a jeep with a pod on top. This was our first trip to Namibia and they were more than willing to give as more information about the places. It would be nicer if they put more lights outside or even brighter lights as we battled to see at night. I would like to thank affinity guesthouse and keep up with the good service.

Room Tip: The rooms on the first floor have a better view of the river.

As soon as you enter the property you are aware that you are going to stay in a special place. The garden is superbly tended and everything looks well maintained within a picture perfect riverside setting. And it gets better and better.
LOCATION: Within walking distance to shops and the town centre on the banks of a very pretty section of the Orange River. There is shaded secure parking inside the premises.
STAFF: Owned and run by Magda and Pieter King in a very hands-on manner. They are extremely hospitable capable hosts and very knowledgeable about the town and greater area. The actual staff, from the gardeners to the cleaners were polite and friendly.
ROOMS: Spacious and well appointed. We occupied room no. 3, at the end of the passage with a lovely patio and view of the river. The beds were divine and the aircon worked efficiently. There is a tea/coffee tray with kettle and the bathroom offers dispenser type soaps and creams. The rooms also have a little bar fridge which worked well to keep our beers icy cold. Being at the end of the passage, the hot water for showering took an awfully long time to get to our room! One is just about to give up, feeling guilty about wasting so much of this precious South African commodity, when voila; piping hot water comes gushing through!
BREAKFAST: Beyond the expectations of most of us. Magda herself prepares the breakfast offering a wonderful assortment of fruits, yoghurts, juices, cereals, cheeses, cold meats/salads, breads and bakes including a wonderfully varied hot bacon and eggs type spread.
GENERAL: We stayed a couple of days and felt really chuffed with ourselves for having decided to stay at Affinity. Try it – it’s worth it!

How not to do it. Mass market appeal without anys sense of hospitality. Got stuck in a kak room with an interleading locked door and the sheets and bedding looked like it was 10 years old with stains. Breakfats from 7am to 8am or you miss out. Vibe was couldn`t care less. Make the right choice to leave and not stay. Possibly the worst value in town I would imagine.

The Affinity guest house is one of many situated along the banks of the Orange river in Upington. The rooms are good with en suite bathrooms, air conditioning and TV, some with views over the river and others set in the garden. Rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet and the rate includes breakfast, which was really good - including cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cooked english etc. I have stayed at a few guest houses in Upington but Affinity rates as one of the best.

We recently stayed at Affinity Guest House on our way both to and from The Kgalagadi Reserve. what a super place. The bedroom was large and well appointed with all we needed to make tea and coffee. Wifi worked well and the rooms were spotlessly clean. A lovely veranda outside our bedroom overlooked the Orange River. Staff and owners could not have been more helpful and a good breakfast got the day off to a great start.another plus point was very secure parking for our laden car.

My room opened out onto a wide terrace at the back, overlooking gardens and the Orange River. Tea and coffee were provided, and the whole place was spotlessly clean. I was with a small tour group, and we occupied all 4 downstairs rooms overlooking the river. In the evening we had a braai while watching the light fade.
The only disadvantage was that these downstairs rooms get all the noise from reception, just across the passage. Perhaps the staff could be a little quieter late at night and early in the morning.
Breakfast was superb, with everything one could wish for, and more.

What a treat! I just wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: The downstairs rooms open out onto the terrace and garden, but there is a fair bit of noise from rec...

Clean, spacious, well equipped rooms with wifi, and a relaxed ambiance. Our room over looked the Orange River and we joined the bird watchers on the veranda. Helpful staff and a delicious breakfast gets the day off to a good start.
