The hotel was once the hub of the town during the days of horse drawn carriages and colonial masters. This placed is steeped in history with the walls adorned in black and white framed photos. The floors are wooden and the rooms are large and spacious. Your bathroom is quite big with shower and a tub. It was hot with no aircons but a ceiling fan. My room had a balcony but looking onto the road it was just tar and shops. The restaurant is on the premises and the menu is extensive.

We were excited and anticipated an old world charm hotel, to our disappointment the annex where we were booked into was in the Parking Lot of the hotel on the opposite side of the road to the actual hotel ,if we had been told this we would never have booked there
So beware when they book you in the Annex, find other accommodation

It was Easter weekend, and we had just arrived in the city to find that pretty much everything was closed. Tripadvisor told us that the hotel and the restaurant would be open, so we gave it a shot. The building itself is beautiful, although in many cases it was clear to see that it was in need of some attention. I am, in addition, not the biggest fan of Cecil John Rhodes, so it was a bit disheartening to see quite a bit of him around in the hotel. But let's focus on the food. We stopped over for a quick lunch. Service was attentive and friendly. I tried the grilled hake, which was delicious, and my partner tried the chicken burger, which he also enjoyed very much. We found ourselves back there the next day for lunch (also because everything else was closed). Again, it did not disappoint.
