“KIMBERLEY MINE MUSEUM”

Here one finds a stunning display of imitation diamonds and a walk in safe with the genuine stones of every colour.
The South African time line is also very interesting as well as the various houses, first church in Kimberley and businesses of the diamond mining era

“A trip to the past”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

Other than the fantastic view of the big hole from the viewing platforms, the museum is a town using original buildings from the mining days furnished with items of the day, it really takes you back in time, to see how the people lived, the tools they used and the early history of the town

“Travel back in Time”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

The Big hole and Kimberley Mine Musuem is truly like stepping back to the previous century. The authentic buildings in the mining town transports one back to the era of diamond mining and whilst the ultra modern mine museum effectively guide the visitor through the decades and centuries of the history of not only Kimberley and the diamond history but South Africa nad the early European arrivals to the Cape as well as an overview of the political transformation of South Africa.
The most impressive though is the display of the world's great diamonds and various other diamonds found in the Kimberley mines.
The 10minute video at the start of the tour is equally enjoyable and well presented. A must do on your next visit to Kimberley, Northern Cape South Africa.

“Informative, worth seeing”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

Informative, historic, worth seeing if passing through Kimberley, though I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to fit it in.
