My wife and I spent a week at Pine Lake Resort last month, March 2014. The resort was nice, good service, good security, beautiful grounds and lake. There was no internet service in the chalets. The only place it was available was the lobby, where it occasionally worked. A tip to get internet service there: unplug the USB dongle from the modem and plug it into your laptop, then install the MTN software, and you will be on the internet.

The only bad thing about the resort was the dirt road leading in and out of the property. There had been recent heavy rains and flooding. The road was incredibly bad, full of big deep potholes brimming with water, huge ruts, slick mud, water running across the road, gigantic bumps, etc. The manager said this road was controlled by the state and they refused to fix it. There is no restaurant at the resort, so if you go out to dinner, you have to drive back to the resort on this road in the dark, which is a harrowing experience. You'll need to go about 5 miles per hour. with frequent stops to negotiate this road. Turning right when leaving the resort puts you on the dirt road for 1.4 km, but it's not quite as bad as turning left, whjch is absolutely terrible, but is only 0.9 km long. Both roads take you to good pavement, with the town of White River less than 5 miles away. Luckily, Pine Lake Inn Restaurant and Oliver's Restaurant (outstanding food) are nearer the resort..

Other than the road, the lack of internet service, and the many stairs in the chalets, we experienced no other problems. There was good flat-screen TV reception, and all the resort personnel were courteous and helpful. We did enjoy our stay at Pine Lake Resort.

Great location freshly revamped modern clean and crisp bathrooms.
Well kept gardens with manicured expansive lawns.
Sparkling pool with many other water based activities on offer.
Access road needs some attention after the heavy rains.

Well maintained resort, But road to the resort you have to navigate very carefully, as the dirt road going off from the main White River to Hazyview rd ,is in a shocking condition!! Gardens are very well kept and you can have such a wonderful relaxing holiday here.

This truly was a great experience. The staff there are very trustworthy. Everything is clean and maintained. You can go there knowing you will enjoy your break and not have to worry about belongings going missing.

Please note that the resort is not to be confused with Pine Lake Inn across Longmere dam. The resort is very well manintained, the staff are competent and friendly. The chalets are particularly well designed with king sized beds in two on-suite rooms. There is a third separate bedroom for children. The main upper bedroom is particularly spacious with a view across the dam whilst drinking cofee in bed.
There is no restaurant on site, but the Pine Lake Hotel just across the dam (2km by road) offers a very nice terrace menu and buffet at night. Although the terrace menu is very well priced, the buffet is priced at tourist dollars. It would be nice if the 'locals' could have 'resident' rates.
Apart from Casterbridge centre and the other small centre across the road from it approximately 5km from the resort, we discovered the Bundu resort about 10km from White River on the R40 to Nelspruit. They serve buffet breakfasts and supper with coffee included. A really lovely setting.
The only gripe we have with Pine Lake is the noise from the Egyptian geese - some nights they do not stop honking and makes sleep impossible. Maybe the management could look at the tactics employed, eg, by Sabi River Sun - they have border collie dogs that roam the area and chase the geese away.
Otherwise, a really lovely, peacefull setting with a view across the lake from all chalets.
