“A true vacation in a very private surrounding”

A paradise hidden in the hills along the Kruger Park. umSisi House is the perfect base to discover the sounding area. Paddy creates the most delicious Africa influenced dishes and Armanda is thoroughly inspiring with her detailed knowledge of the area. The house is beautifully restored and a very special place to spend some quality time with family or friends while being spoiled by Armanda and Paddy. We will definitely be back again!

A place where your wishes to go back together with loved ones to show so much hospitality in this beautiful part of South Africa.

A place where you can forget everything and can enjoy the delicious meals and stories of host Paddy and the the hospitality feels of Amanda. Too good to be true but it really is! We often think back to our wonderful stay at Umsisi House, we will never forget this!

Arrived to delicious food and very kind hosts. Always trying to help and yet never invading your personal space. A very hard balance to find, but this place nails it. Strongly recommend it to anyone. An ideal place for couples to explore from or for families to relax in.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely, so don't worry about this

A last minute booking that we were happy to process! A pleasure to meet you all. Your next visit should be for longer though as you have only seen a very small part of what the Kruger Lowveld has to offer. We hope that return business trips to SA will see you booking into umSisi House again. Kind regards Amanda

WOW!! Thank you so much Paddy & Amanda for the fantastic cottage that was made available for our stay. The views were amazing, the peace and tranquility outstanding and the comfort of the "COTTAGE" made us want to stay for so much longer.
We truly cherished the few days we were there and will remember them for many days to come.

Umsisi was a highlight of an already wonderful holiday, quite difficult to top one's first visit to Kruger but this was close. Amanda and Paddy are perfect hosts, treading the fine line between providing everything you could wish for and leaving you alone to dream that you have the place all to yourselves. The decor is stunning, simple but stylish. The food is superb, the best of home cooking and boutique restaurant combined. We did manage to pull ourselves away as it was a bit chilly in July to use the pool but the roaring log fire was a big attraction in the evening. Excellent location for sightseeing and can recommend Blyde river canyon boat trip, 3 Rondavels and Bourkes luck potholes among many beauty spots. We spent 3 happy days and nights and left wanting more. It was so good this is the first time I've bothered to leave a review on Tripadvisor. We keep thinking of people we'd like to share it with and occasions we'd like to celebrate there - we'll be back!

Room Tip: All rooms are super comfortable and have lovely views and stylish bathrooms. They are at the end of...

Difficult to describe it with words.. You need to experience it.. It is home away from home. Paddy and Amanda make sure you feel at home.. Our 2 children had their own bedroom and bathroom with wonderful views and great comfort. We had the master bedroom with a walking closet and a great bathroom. Impeccable service and sparkling clean.
Meals were tailored made for our taste.. We were asked in advance to view our 3 days menus and make changes if needed.. Paddy is just an outstanding cook.. The children are still talking about it, especially the cherry dessert..

We arrived a little earlier than planned and they quickly made a delicious improvised lunch for us.. What a good start..

We had all the private time we wanted, Amanda and Paddy are extremely discrete..

The pool was too cold as it is "winter time" but the jacuzzi was great.. The garden is worth visiting and we could try all the home made vegetables (from Paddy's own "garden")..

They had so many suggestion of places to go to that it was hard to choose.. We visited an Elephant sanctuary and went on quads..

Their 2 dogs are incredible: very well educated and so sweet.. Astrid still miss them..

We will surely come back if ever we are coming back to South Africa.. and that time for a longer stay as we can go to the Kruger Park very easily..

We travel a lot around the world and such hospitality, we never experienced it so far..

What a wonderful and personal review. Thank you. Chef Paddy was thrilled by your feedback and we hope that you re-created the Cherry Clafoutis successfully for the family at home? The dogs so miss their new friends - Astrid was one of their biggest fans! We hope that you will return to South Africa and umSisi House again in the not too distant future. And we must thank Marianne at Zuid Afrika Vakantie (marianne@zuidafrikavakantie.nl) for recommending you to us and us to you! Kind regards Amanda and Paddy

In July 2013 we were in UmSisi House in South Africa. It is a beautiful house, with a great view, and all the comfort you can think of.
The owners Amanda and Paddy are very nice, he is a superb cook and she runs the house and everything what is needed to make the guests at home. They are also very concerned with the people living in the area and do a lot of good work.
