My wife and I had our wedding at the Hotel, and most of our guest stayed over for the weekend, including us for the wedding night.
The overall quality of the service and the food was extremely poor. The problems started when I arrived early the Saterday morning to drop off some "goodies" that had to be placed in the junior suite we had booked as part of the wedding package 10 months previously. The first reaction from the reception staff was there was no booking. After demanding to see the manager, we were told that the room was given to somebody else.
After about 70 minutes of arguing and fighting with the manager, we were given an upgrade to the presidential suite.
The next issue was that nothing was ready for the wedding reception by 10:00 that morning - and the wedding was supposed to start at 15:00. We had to round up family and guests to help get the venue ready, and about half of the items that was part of the package was not available (we prepaid for everything).
We got the venue ready with less than 1 hour to spare, with my wife rushing back to her room to get ready -not the perfect start to your wedding day!
The next problem was that the menu we selected was not prepared, but a totally different menu was used (one of the cheaper options, not the deluxe package we chose) rendering the printed menus we had made useless and embarrasing - and most of the food appeared to be a couple of days old at best. Most probably left overs from the new years party.
The room upgrade we received was a bit of a disaster, none of the promised items such as champagne and fruit baskets I paid for was in the room , and the room was a bit "tired" looking.
When booking out the next morning, the hotel rooms we booked at discounted rates for our guests, were suddenly no longer at the lower rates. We did not realise this until more than half of our guests paid for their rooms.
After complaining to the General manager on the Monday, as well as the Manager in charge of catering, and being promised that they will write a letter of apology to my wife - still waiting for it! and that they will refund the money for the items not delivered - they subsequent had the guts to bill us for "2 additional guests" at the reception.
I would strongly recommend not using this hotel for any events and if you do, do not pay for it before the time.
definately below 1 star rating!
