“Just what we wanted in St Lucia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

From the moment we arrived and settled in for three nights at Whalesong we were delighted. Having chosen the Sea Spray room, which had it's own entrance and looked out onto the Garden and the pool, we were not disappointed. The room was everything we had expected and the bathroom huge and well equipped. The option of the private patio and access to the pool and garden added to the feeling of something a little special.
Breakfast was great and Colin added the personal touch by coming to take our orders. Both he and Coleen were a more than useful source of information and advised us well regarding trips out and where was best. They also booked us onto an excursion. Nothing was too much trouble. The only minor issue was timing the use of the shower as the house was full of people and we seemed to be at the end of the house for the hot water supply. Colin was on the case and had plans to improve this.
All in all this is a truly great location to explore area and perfect venue to match it.

Thank you for your feedback it means so much. We do love making our guests feel special. The laying of the new water pipes is scheduled for next week and this should now finally resolve the problem

We were a 3 generation family group of 6 (30-84) and the Whalesong suited our requirements well. It's a large property within the tranquil residential oasis of the town that is St Lucia.

Hosts Colleen and Colin are both hospitable and knowledgeable and our trip through the Wetlands Reserve ,culminating in a swim and sunbathe at Cape Vidal, was a highlight of the holiday.Alighting upon 3 White Rhino was a thrill !.

We felt the rooms, whilst of a good size, were decorativily a little tired but still offered good value
at £35 each family member per night B&B. The compensation was the breakfast which was
marvellous , - freshly baked breads, great coffee, and hot selections cooked to perfection.

We would certainly recommend the Whalesong as a base from which to explore the wild and birdlife which proliferates.

We spent 5 nights at Whalesong in Feb 2013. Our room was beautiful with a luxurious bathroom and lots of little extras . Our hosts Colin and Coleen were very welcoming and ensured we made the most of our stay, recommending places to visit and arranging trips for us. The enormous breakfasts set us up for the day and Coleen's homemade muffins are delicious. We were able to relax on our terrace and cool off in the pool set in a lovely garden. We would love to return one day.

The place is quiet and located in a residential neighborhood. The hosts are knowledgeable about the area. It was clean and comfortable and rated as a 4 star property. This South African ratings are difficult to understand as we have stayed at nicer 3 star properties and not so good 5 star places. The hosts are friendly, but it seemed that it was purely in a business way. We would have expected more in a B&B. Breakfast is excellent.
St Lucia is on the hippo trail with all the water surrounding it. So in the evenings it is not advisable to walk as hippos graze on land. The downtown is really small and just a couple of blocks on the main drag. We ave seen people walk in that area as I guess the hippos stay away. Hence, the thought that it would be nicer to stay closer to down town and not have to drive.
There are no TVs in the room - at least not in ours.

Appreciate the feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed Colin’s breakfasts. Sorry our approach was more business oriented, we will keep this in mind for future. None of the rooms have TVs as we feel that most guests who visit our World Heritage Site would prefer the peace and tranquillity. Guests who would like to watch, however, are able to use the guest lounge which has a large screen TV.

Whalesong provided the perfect atmosphere for our family gathering. The hosts are fabulous, interesting and great conversationalists (but never intrusive). The property and pool are lovely and inviting. The breakfasts make getting up in the morning a delight! The location is perfect: close to the restaurants and shops but not too close. If we get back to SA and near St. Lucia we will return!!

My girlfriend and I stayed at Whalesong for four nights during the first week of January 2013. Simply put, we had a wonderful experience. Colin and Colleen are warm, cheerful hosts who are very knowledgeable about St. Lucia and the surrounding area. The booked tours were all worthwhile, but the highlight of our trip ended up being a morning-long stroll along a trail Colin told us about that we would never have found on our own. Moreover, they both took an interest in how the vacation was going, even lending us binoculars to make sure we had a good time. Our room was pristine, comfortable, and quiet, and the grounds overall are very relaxing. We highly recommend Whalesong to anyone seeking accommodations in St. Lucia.

My Wife and i stayed there for 4 nights of our Honeymoon in December 2012 in peak season.
Collin and Colleen absolutely went out of their way to make us feel at home on arrival. They told us what was interesting and what was highly recommended to do in st. lucia. They even booked our deep sea fishing expedition for us, we had to leave before breakfast so they packed us a basket to take with, with home made bread, -pies, - muffins, fruit and juice. They borrwed us, snorkels, beach towles, binoculars. The atmosphere they create in this guesthouse is superb. The house is neat, clean, spacious and the swimming pool an lapa is also wonderfull with save parking. Thanks alot Collin and Coleen for all your efforts, when we go back to St. Lucia we will definately stay with you. Regards Riaan and Eileen du Toit.
