“A day to remember”
Reviewed January 14, 2012

Growing up in the St Lucia area myself, i was extremely impressed with the tour provided by Heritage tours. I visited the area after moving to Australia five years ago and I went on an all day game drive to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve with Stacey (one of the tour guides). The tour was absolutely spectacular and exceeded all my expectations by far. Stacey has a wealth of knowledge about the area, animals and environment which she has accumulated by growing up in the area as well. I believe this is the case for all tour guides that Heritage tours employs. The animal sightings were amazing and just sitting in the raised seats on the tour vehicle driving through the game park is an experience to remember for many years to come. The sights of endless game reserve and the smells of Africa remain within one for a very long time after that. A truly wonderful trip and i recommend it to anyone traveling to the St Lucia area!

We booked this direct from the UK an easy trouble free experience with great communication from Mandy and her team.
We were picked up from Durban Airport by Stian (not sure how he spells his name) who was a very pleasant chap and a careful driver giving us a relaxed couple of hours, he explained our itinerary and the wildlife of Africa as we were driven through some wonderful picturesque places, we were finally dropped of at our lodge accomodation and met by several mongoose and their young, Stian told us that Stacey would pick us up at 3pm for our trip down the estuary on a new boat (we were the guina pigs) We found this a great experience as it had a personal touch unlike the bigger boats that held 60 people, on the smaller craft we could get closer to the wildlife, on this trip we saw Hippo and Croc's and a lot of birds, what a start we were very impressed.
We had an early start, Stacey picked us up at 5am and we were in Hluhluwe game reserve by 6am on a warm and pleasant day, only 10 minutes in and we had our first sighting of a small pack of wild dogs (extremely rare) this seemed to map our day in a quest to get a sighting of the BIG FIVE, Stacey was very informative and Patient at the end of a superb day that was never rushed and taken at a pace so that you could take advantage of the fantastic animals and sights, we had seen two prides of Lion, several white Rhino, a large herd of buffalo, wildebeast, zebra, an assortment of different Buck, a Mother Cheetah and her four 1 year old cubs, warthog families, giraffe, two elephants and the icing on the cake a mother and calf Black Rhino the rarer of the two spicies, we left the park with smiles as wide as the St Lucia estuary.
This day was spent in the wetlands reserve where again we saw a large assortment of animals, spent some time to relax on a wonderful sandy beach and a Braai (sth African BBQ) for lunch. We were taken back to our lodge to get ready to go out on a night drive to see animals at night, as the sun set we completed our sighting of the Big Five not one but two leopard fantastic a sight to remember e spent nearly an hour watching them, once again never rushed with stacey giving us the benifit of her knowledge.
On the forth day we were given a huge breakfast and Stian picked us up and took us back to Durban.
It is a wonderful company that care about giving you a fantastic time with little or no time restraint on you, If you want an excellent time with an informative guide then look no further than Heritage Tours in St Lucia.
This has truely been an Xmas to remember.

“Professional, save, flexible”
Reviewed December 12, 2011

We have experienced beautiful Africa’s nature and kind people with Heritage tours.

All three guides (Trevor, Stacey, Steean) who accompanied us during 3 days stay in St. Lucia were highly professional and caring. All are certified guides, with passion for nature conservation. Always on time and with a smile on their face - at 5 am or at 10 pm. They not only shared with us their knowledge about natural habitats, behaviour of wild animals but also provided with the insights into the South African lifestyle.

Early start at 5 am for a Safari was worth it: we saw all animals (except cheetah and leopard) and enjoyed views of green untouched landscape that one can see on National Geographic. The other highlight of our trip was a one hour house ride with Terry in the bush coming as close as 5 meters to zebras and impalas. It was the first time I sit on the horse back - but no fear - the horses really know what to do. Be ready to feel some parts of your body the other day, though.

Differently from being in a big city (Durban), I felt save in St. Lucia, among its 300 inhabitants and visiting tourists. We (3 women) could walk for dinner at Fishermen’s (for fresh dorado/ kingclip) and for a drink/dance at Babushka, which turned to be the only disco place in the village for locals and tourists from 18 to 30+. At the tables outside, one could have a conversation without shouting, despite loud music inside.

We appreciate flexibility by Heritage tours: on the day a Safari was planned, it was raining - hardly possible to see animals. We were offered to swap the trips and to do Cape Vidal bush and beach tour instead, which was fine for a rainy day.

Big thanks for Heritage tours for this amazing African experience!

“Fantastic Safari Experience in Hluhluwe - Imfolozi with a guide that was beyond fantastic!”
Reviewed November 1, 2011

My wife and I went for a day safari in Hluhluwe - Imfolozi with Brian as our tour guide and we had an absolutely amazing time. He had a keen eye for finding wildlife far in the distance and knowing where to look for some of the elusive lions. He would frequently talk to the other guides to make sure that he had the best information possible and then would work hard to make sure that we got a great experience. As well, Brian's passion for wildlife made an exciting tour even more exciting! Watching your guide whip out his camera with excitement and start snapping pictures just reinforces how special the experience is. Brian did his best to make sure our expectations were exceeded and provide us with an educational experience to boot! He was a fantastic guide that I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about going on a safari near St. Lucia or Durban. My wife and I had considered just driving the park in our car to save money, but I'm so glad we paid Heritage for the tour. Worth every penny!

“Freakin Night Adventure :)”
Reviewed October 12, 2011

We booked a night safari in iSimangaliso Wetland Park and it was worth all the money spent. I think it was Trevor who lead the tour. He was very knowledgeable, gave us some very interesting insights on the animals and the surrounding. We were unlucky to see few animals, even Trevor was surprised of how few. I felt though that he did everything he could to ensure we had a great time. The big advantage was that we used some roads which are normally closed for tourists. Seeing our guide driving the car through bush while browsing the area with a spotlight and sending text to the other guide was an unforgettable experience. The above didn't stop him from finding a small chameleon somewhere in a tree! Me and my wife highly recommend this tour. If you travel in August dress up warmly. Blankets provided by a guide might not be enough...
