This was our first time at a guesthouse (as we usually stay in hotels) and we were pleasantly surprised at the hospitality. Francois and Rika are a lovely couple , they made us feel very special. Breakfast was superb. Rooms immaculate. Location was very convenient, nearby to all shops and restaurants. We had a pleasant stay. Hope to go back someday.

Room Tip: We had the family suite at the end of the house, very private with 2 bedrooms and kitchen and dining...

I'm just reading the long list of superlative reviews on Tripadvisor for the Santa Lucia guesthouse, and I concur with every one of them. My partner and I stayed with Rika and Francois last week. Yes, the bedrooms are clean and immaculate, yes, the garden and grounds are beautiful, yes, the breakfast is delicious, yes, the service is gracious and hospitable, yes, the hosts are knowledgeable about what to do and where to go in the area, but what really stands out is that we felt like we were right at home from the moment Rika greeted us. My partner remarked that Rika and Francois were like solicitous parents! We felt that we were treated with special regard. What amazes me from these reviews is that apparently our experience was not limited to us. How in the world does Rika manage to make every single guest feel singled out and special? I have traveled extensively throughout South Africa and elsewhere, and stayed at many B & B's in my day, but this one stands out.

Room Tip: We stayed adjacent to the pool, which was lovely. We also saw the family suite, which was also nice...

Francois and Rika made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The rooms are spacious and it was great to have filter coffee in the room. Breakfasts were fantastic and more than enough. As a tour guide I have stayed in many B&B's etc and Santa Lucia knocks the socks off the others. Thanks to our hosts for making our two night stay so enjoyable. It is a three minute walk to the restuarants etc and one feels safe at all times, even in the evenings.

Thank you Rika and Francois, we will be back.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Santa Lucia Guesthouse and meeting the charming owners, Francois & Rika, some years ago and have been planning a return visit, but have not managed it yet.
On reading the experiences of other guests who have stayed there, our memories are refreshed and we are determined to get there again to be pampered and cared for by this delightful, energetic, sincere couple.
In our travels all around South Africa we have yet to find a match for Francois & Rika's hospitality. Nothing is too much for them!
May they go from strength to strength in the future.
They deserve all the comments in the Reviews of both them and their establishment.
Hope to see you soon.

Our stay with Rika, Marti and Francois in the guesthouse was exactly like that. As a family of 4 with a smaller child and a teenage girl we had a wonderful time in Saint Lucia. The guesthouse is a lovely place with an amazing breakfast and spacious rooms. Being able to walk to dinner in the evening is another advantage. I only can agree with all other reviews! The Santa Lucia guest house is definitely the best B & B place I stayed so far not just in South Africa, a must go destination for everybody who wants to visit this wonderful place.

Rika,Francois, and Marti were amazing hosts. From the very first moment we arrived they made us feel very welcome. They were all very knowledgeable and helpful about everything to see and do in the area. They loaned us bird books, snorkeling gear, beach chairs and cooler.
The guest house is beautiful, very clean, meticulous grounds, and artwork everywhere. The food was phenomenal. We have never had breakfasts like the ones served at Santa Lucia. Now that we are home we are replicating some of their delicious recipes--like avocado and scrambled eggs on toast. They even served heart shaped pancakes, and we Americans sure appreciated the brewed coffee. We would heartily recommend this guesthouse if you want an amazing stay.

This is a beautiful home, nestled amongst green trees, foliage and sub-tropical plants.
The rooms are very comfortable, furnished in "Afrikaner" style so you will experience the true warmth and hospitality of an Afrikaans family here. It is the tradition of our country. There is really nothing missing - every conceivable nick nack has been provided; scissors, hairdryers, pen knives, filter coffee plungers together with "real" coffee, cotton wool, cotton buds, shampoo, body lotion, real milk in the refrigerator, crunchies to go with your coffee, you name it!
Breakfasts are so ample - you could easily last until evening - fruitsalad, cold meats, mushrooms, eggs to order, muffins, cheese and, as a special, Rika's famous avocado and scrambled egg concoction which is to die for.

As we had a very early departure, we were provided with sandwiches, hotcross buns, yoghourt and took along muffins. Thank you Rika.

Francois is a fountain of knowledge and will assist you in the planning of your day's outing.
Cape Vidal should not be missed.

Truly a memorable experience.

Room Tip: Rooms facing pool have best views.
