Crystal Spring Lodge is the perfect getaway. It's remote location on top of a mountain gives the best view. We went with our teen son and the rooms (2 bedroom) were great. It was clean and everything you need for a self catering facility. We did wake up to a baboon trying to open car doors and a heard of little grey & black moneys on our deck/braai area trying to take a shirt I left out to air dry. They are all over the place and fun to watch.

The only down side is there is no atm machine. You have to go down to Pilgram's Rest and they only have 1 machine which was not working when we went. So make sure you have cash before heading up the mountain to the lodge.

The staff was great and check in/out was a breeze. The resturants had good food. We didn't take advantage of the other facilities as we were busy doing the sightseeing. We would go back again.

If you are taking a shower the water preassure drops if you try to turn on other outlets (sink)...etc.
It is pitch black at night. I wouldn't recommend walking around at night.

Nice place to go and rest.

Room tip: All the rooms seem to be good for the view. I might ask for a room closer to the reception area.

This resort caters mainly for self catering holiday makers, but it can also provide B&B accommodation.
The resort comprises of 164 self catering units with the majority being 1or 2 bedroomed units with about 10 three bedroomed units. All units well fitted out kitchens and the bathrooms. The 2&3 bedroom units have two bathrooms. All units have a magnificent view out over the escarpment. The resort has a well equiped gym, suana, steam room, jacuzzi and a spa with a assortment of different treatments. The resort is in a malaria free area which is a bonus as you don't need to worry about taking anti malaria tablets.
They have a bar which serves light snacks, a coffe shop as well as an A la Carte restaurant.
For the energetic holiday maker Crystal Springs has manny different hikes catering for all levels of fitness. There are two tennis courts and a squash court. They have a well kitted out supervised games room for children of all ages with electronic games consoles as well as darts, snooker and a 18 hole put-put course. The use of all equipment is free of charge.
The resort is on a game farm and you could be lucky to have a visit at your unit from some of the buck that are on the resort. There are daily guided tours through the resort but you can also do self-drives around the park.
A mere 10km away is a picturesque 9 /18 hole golf course at Pilgrims Rest. The town itself is a step back in time to when the gold rush was at its peak. There are numerous eateries, shops where you can buy keepsakes and also many stalls which sell local handmade curios.
Crystal springs is well situated for visiting all the places of interest in Mpumulanga as well as the Kruger National Park .

Room tip: All rooms are very good

This is an amazing lodge situated at the top of Robbers Pass. Set in a pine forest with great views all around. Great base from which to visit some of the wonders of the area such as Pilgrams Rest. The lodge offers great units and good facilities for adults and children

Crystal Springs Mountain Lodge was a perfect choice for the first 2 nite stay on our trip to South Africa. Tucked away in the scenic mountains near Pilgrims Rest, this property provides beautiful views, very nice rooms, excellent staff, restaurant, shop and play activities for the younger travelers. It is also situated very well for day trips to the various stops and waterfalls in the historic area of Pilgrims Rest.

Room tip: Be sure to request a unit with a shower if that is a high priority, otherwise the bath tub will have to do!
