Great place to stay if you want to golf at Leopard Creek - but would not think this was a four star
Great Lodge - like stepping back in time to old colonial days, the owner Sugar Rhodes looks after you and makes you all feel special, the staff are fantastic and the views and food second to none. The standard rooms are huge and in superb condition.
Its like a five star game lodge attached the the Kruger Park - stunning.
I stayed with five friends and played golf at Leopards Creek and will be returning with my family as loved it so much
An absolute haven - old fashioned service, attention to detail like seldom seen today. Beautiful lodge, breakfast on terrace overlooking Crocodile River to Kruger Park with sightings of Big 5, sumptuously decorated rooms with stunning views, air conditioned. Trips arranged with lodges fully trained ranger in own vehicles to Kruger 5 minutes away , along with excursions to many places of interest such as the Panorama Trail including God's Window. They even found me local place to go horse riding including swimming with horses!! Excellent freshly prepared meals including breakfasts of fresh fruit, full english and home cooked muffins and 4 course dinners with many chefs own speciality dishes. Bar offers reasonably priced wines and cocktails. Relaxing spa offers massage/ beauty treatment overlooking river . Staff exceptional ensuring a totally relaxing and enjoyable stay. We had planned to travel for our stay in South Africa, but changed our plans, coming back to Buhala Lodge for the last 5 days of our stay !! Can not recommend enough - great for a stop over to see Kruger or as a base for further travel including Swaziland - or as we found for a longer stay.
we travelled with a golfing tour - arrived at Buhala to be greeted by Sugar - what a charming woman. We thoroughly enjoyed standing onthe verandah looking at the elephants, rhinos and water buffalos. One couple had an elephant at their window the first night. For two days we ventured into the Park with their rangers and managed to see all the big 5 - fantastic. One day we played golf at Leopard Creek - what an experience - for a golfer something not to be missed. Breakfast was wonderful sitting on the verandah watching the animals and dinner was a five star experience. The bar was well stocked and John and France were most obliging. Also had a massage - another pampering experience. Each room in the lodge is different - ours was huge , with A/C and a ceiling fan - and a huge bathroom. A great experience - can recommend it
We stayed for 2 nights in the charming Buhala country house and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was absolutely helpful and friendly. We had lovely fresh breakfasts on the terrace overlooking Kruger Park and delicious dinner in the evenings. Wonderfully comfortable sun beds with an unbeatable view of elephants and perfect and relaxing massage in the afternoon. We can absolutely recommend that place and will definitely come back.
Really enjoyed being inside Kruger National Park. The elevated deck has an amazing view of the crocodile river and every morning we saw crocodiles and hippos. One day we even saw a lion and an elephant.
The view from the room is amazing as well. They do have WiFi, but just like all of South Africa it is a little spotty at best.
Sugar is an amazing hostess and will do whatever it takes to make your stay an enjoyable one. The two times I ate at the hotel, the food was excellent and fresh.
