“Excellent place to hang your hat, close to Kruger Park”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Excellent time share and hotel resort. Many things thoughtfully planned for families and children. There is a huge chess set that all can enjoy and bar b ques all over the place if you wish to eat out.
It has great service, large units, nicely situated and very close to Kruger Park Gate. Please reach out to the concierge, a lovely woman who will tell you the best restaurants and sites to see in the area. She recommended the brushing the elephants, a wonderful experience. She also is in the know about restaurants. South Africa is an interesting country and it would be worth reaching out and talking to people of all backgrounds and races to learn about this huge country.

Hazyview is a nice town with a shopping mall. I encourage people to explore the mall and the back side of the mall, which has the local merchants.

My family and I stayed here in August 2012. A vehicle is a must. We rented one from the mpumalanga airport and getting around was a breeze. Front desk staff appeared apathetic, perhaps lack of training? Main gate guards were very warm and friendly.
Accommodations were large and adequate. Grounds were well kept. Travel advisor on site was quite helpful. Meals at the restaurant were mediocre
A highlight was the 24hours spent at kwa mbili game reserve about an hour away. This was arranged by the travel agent on site.

We just spent a week at Sanbonani Resort and we had no complaint about the unit but the reception desk staff seriously needs some training. They were unhelpful and downright impolite. Their attitude really dampered our stay because we dreaded to ask for any help or suggestions during our visit. The onsite timeshare staff was however very nice.
The chalet has been recently renovated so it is very nice. The maintenance staff is helpful .The pipe in the upstairs bedroom broke and immediately a plumber was sent to fix it.
The location of the resort is very good.Quite close to Kruger National Park.
The restaurant serves decent food but nothing spectacular.

Room Tip: The chalets numbered in the 50s are better located because they have a view of the big river where H...

We spent a week here. The staff were helpful, but not overly friendly. We enjoyed waking up to coffee on the deck facing the Sabie River. We had rented a car and the resort was centrally located to Kruger Park, the Verster coffee plantation near Graskop, and the town of Pilgrims Rest. The staff did assist us in making reservations for other resorts when we left. The chalet, for lack of a better word, was three bed rooms and two baths, with a living room, dining room and kitchen. Everything was clean and there was maid service every day. The bartender was friendly, and the beer was cold.

Room Tip: You will be warned about the hippos when you sign in, believe them when they tell you be careful whe...

This is a great location just minutes from the Phabeni Gate. The property is very nice and situated right on the banks of the Sabi River. I beleive the renovations must all have been completed because we did not notice anything that needed repair or attention. The units are large and well appointed with all of the amenities needed. You can grocery shop right in Hazyview which is only 5 minutes away to get all of your supplies including BBQ (Braai in SA) which is a must.
The restaurant is so so but you don't go to South Africa for the food and for the most part you are better off preparing your own. The resident Hippos were not around this week but we saw plenty of them on the trip! Joan, the activity coordinator arranged a trip to Kwa-Mbili in Thornybush Reserve which will never be forgotten.

Room Tip: Get the timeshare units by the river, not the hotel.

We had a wonderful 8 day holiday at Sanbonani early January 2012. Upon our arrival we were met by friendly staff and some refreshing orange juice! Units were nicely cleaned and we just loved the weather. The air conditioned units were just perfect. We could set our temperature accordingly. Our evenings were spent braai-ing and listening to the magic of the bush and listening to the rushing of the river down below. One evening we were fortunate enough to be able to see 5 hippo out of the water grazing below us. Nearby horse riding was great and Kruger Park was close by, which we visited twice. I cannot wait to have an opportunity to return to Sanbonani once again. It was an incredibly relaxing place to be .... in fact I could have remained there forever. I would highly recommend Sanbonani Resort.

Parker family.

Room Tip: 39A had an excellent view of the river (Sabie side) 46A had a beautiful view but not of the river...

Service was resonable, but the location can't be any better than if you were in the Kruger Park itself. All lodges are either on the Sabie River or Sand River. We were able to see Hippos grazing just outsie our back porch!
