“GREAT FACILITIES & LOCATION”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Large, spacious & well kept grounds with lots of facilities to keep one busy on the property during the day (golf course & hire of golf carts/equipment, walks around property & sightings of wild game & birds, entertainment centre + board games + pool table + table tennis, tennis courts, mini golf, volleyball and swimming pools.
Kruger National Park entrances close by (Phabeni Gate = 12kms // Numbi Gate = 17kms) and easy to visit for day visits.
Many options to eat out at restaurants at local malls (very close) or purchase items required to make a braai or cook your own meal. We found two good restaurants in this area (Kuka Restaurant & River Café ….. see separate reports).
We stayed in a large 3 room chalet (sleep 6) with all home comforts on hand + more! Kitchen equipped with everything you need to make and present a meal (need to purchase own food). Chalets are serviced each day which makes the “self catering aspect” very simple & easy while enjoying your break away from home. Chalet had very comfortable & spacious living areas; surrounded by rivers, gardens, golf courses, some wild animals (monkeys) and many placid impala roaming around the grounds.
All round very affordable for a family or group of friends with great facilities and attractions in close proximity. We would book to stay here again.

Room Tip: All chalets are well spaced out on the property. We stayed in a very nice 3 bedroom chalet (214) ove...

After a long day driving round the Kruger Park it was wonderful to settle into our spacious thatched roof chalet overlooking one of the well manicured fairways. We were impressed by how well appointed the whole house was with an ice machine full of ice, indoor & outdoor candles waiting to be lit, air fresheners in every room & lovely soaps in the bathrooms. The kitchen was well stocked & also had all the food basics which made a short stay so much easier. There were 2 outside barbeques & a large verandah where one could sit under the stars! In the morning, after a wonderfully quiet night's rest, there was a large herd of impala grazing in front of our chalet. We walked over the fairways to the lake where there is a hide to view the hippos. The place was serviced each day & the standard of hygeine was excellent. There was a big shopping mall nearby which was very convenient & on the 2nd night we ate in a good Italian restaurant. Kruger Park Lodge is an excellent place to stay whilst game viewing in the Park as it is close to Phabeni Gate & is an extremely comfortable place to stay.

The lush green setting is restful after a day looking for the "big 5" in Kruger Park. The modern thatched roof chalets are surrounded by a Gary Player designed course. Well trained and friendly staff provide good service throughout the resort and food venues.

Located close to the Phabeni Gate to Kruger Park, this time share resort in Hazyview offers convenient access to many attractions in the area combined with a peaceful and traquil setting. Built round a Gary Player course, the units are in facebrick under thatch located along the course fairways. More attractive sites are available along the Sabie river but these are under private ownership but can be rented via the Internet directly from the owners. The extent of the property, including a hide to view resident hippo and the presence of small herds of Impala, encouraged family walks around the estate which added to our enjoyment.
We occupied a 2 bedroom 6 sleeper semi detached unit with its own patio and spacious braai area. One bathroom was en suite to a huge bedroom with lots of cupboard space and a second bathroom with shower located adjacent to a second bedroom fitted with two single beds. The lounge couches converted to single beds and as we were a party of six, this became a little inconvenient as the couches were made up as beds during the day.
The fittings in the units are becoming dated, a good example being the box type TV which belongs in a previous era. Satellite channels were, however, better than most hospitality offerings. The kitchen was compact and very poorly lit but the stove and fridge worked well and cooking utensils were more than adequate. The units were serviced daily and while towels were replaced regularly, they were of mixed quality with some definately beyond their best. The toilets had plastic seats which do not belong in a resort of this standard.
We found the room staff reserved and uncommunicative. Their cleaning cloths were not hygenic and probably spread more bacteria than removing it. Maintenance calls were responded to promptly and effectively. Management and reception staff were friendly and informed.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Kruger Park Lodge and would return.

Dear Bergview

I am happy to report that we will be refurbishing these units very soon. This will compromise the second phase of a major project which will greatly enhance all our units. We will also rectify the issue regarding the cloths immediately. Thank you for a very well written and informative review and we hope that you will return to see the progress and new standards in these units.

Kruger Park Lodge is that unusual place that one encounters seldom. A superb golf-course, twenty minutes from the Kruger Park Phabeni Gate and a tranquil thatched unit excellently maintained and well-equipped. A good restaurant and good services. Staff are well-trained and responsive and the entires experience is laid back comfort and sheer enjoyment. Great to unwind and relax.

Room Tip: All cottages very good.

We spent a day in the Mpumalanga area on 26 April to check on a couple of resorts. We had an unpleasant experience at Ekuthuleni where we refused entry. For additional info refer review. We have a booking in July 2013 for Kruger Park Lodge & wanted to check out the Lodge. We had no problem in getting to reception where the staff were very hospitable. They gave us a map of the Lodge and mentioned that we were welcome to ride around and check the location of the units. This really is a great venue to relax and chill out, gardens maintained immaculately. If you have the opportunity to stay in the Mpumalanga, Kruger Park Lodge is a definate must, really great venue.

Room Tip: Will submit an additional review after our stay in July.

I spent 5 days at the lodge. It's a beautiful place, quiet and you can be one with nature. The chalet I stayed in was clean and very well maintained. I had a magnificent view of the manicured golf course and the hippo hide in the distance. My favourite however, was the small herd of buck running free around the property. The club house is a walking distance, with multiple pool areas conveniently located near the chalets. The staff was friendly and helpful, but occasionally I found that they became over familiar and had a tendency to overstep their bounds. The restaurant is a complete disaster. The food is mediocre at best and the service atrocious! It's best to avoid their restaurant at all costs and rather eat at the various other eateries outside the lodge itself. The lodge is conveniently located near shopping malls, the gate of the Kruger, and other spots where you can engage in extreme sport and other outdoor adventures. It's a great place for a weekend getaway!

Dear Thandz D

Thank you for the comments. I will meet with the restaurant owners to ensure that our very high standards are also maintained in this area. We will also embark on some training to ensure that our staff's enthusiasm and willingness to help do not encroach into over familiarity, which I do understand can lead to a degree of discomfort for our guests and a perception of unprofessionalism. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to your return.
