Spent 3days at the hotel with breakfast. Rooms need to be desperately upgraded. The Aircon in our room was very noisy still the original ones from the time the hotel was built. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good except it took a while to get our Omlettes. A bar fridge in the room would be good especially when one is traveling with little children. Will wait a while before I book at this resort again, hoping they would make some improvements.

We stayed here for three nights and the only thing that was good was the food, when it eventually arrived! The service was shocking and the staff seemed unsure what to do each night and even when they had a buffet for the people on the coaches, which took the pressure off the kitchen and the waiters, there was still confusion and very slow service. We saw the GM once on those 3 nights when he came to chat to the musician and then went off to observe a conference/meeting upstairs.

As for security, what security! We entered the main gate about 7 times and we were asked only once to identify ourselves - all the other times we simply drove in without showing any evidence of us being guests.

We visited the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate last year and if we had first visited the Sabi River Sun (SRS) we may have been less critical. Everything about the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate is better - the food (excellent buffets), service, ambiance and of course the distance. The SRS is 14 kilometers away from the Kruger Park while the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate is just 200 meters from the Paul Kruger Gate.

Usually Southern Sun hotels are good and we love the Maharani & Elangeni in Durban and Hemingways in East London but the SRS is a huge disappointment. Jack it up or sell it Tsogo Sun!

It is the 3rd month of 2014,& I can't believe how fast the year is going. World wide it is March that "sleep day" is celebrated. Good sleep, relaxing in a peaceful environment is synonymous with Sabie River Sun, leading to a healthy and energetic lifestyle. Highly recommended.

The dinner menu was delicious but the breakfasts were very poor in comparison to other Tsogo Sun hotels and resorts where we have stayed, thiswas particularly disappointing.

The staff in general were very helpful but not proactive or engaging. As hotel guests we felt rather second class to the timeshare residents. The focus is very clearly on the timeshare residents.
The hotel is also very tired and in desperate need of a full overhaul. It looks like the hotel forgotten in the 70's which is quaint for the first few hours and then begins to wear on you as you begin to compare it to other hotels where you have stayed within the same group. I trust that the beauty and serenity of this resort is soon enhanced by a greatly improved hotel renovation. We will be back as soon as that has happened.

We had a wonderful stay!! The management and staff really ensured my wife's birthday was very special, with great memories. A special thanks to Collete for her assistance (assisting with the beautiful flowers, cupcakes and champagne as arranged at breakfast) you are a real star! Also a special thanks to all the ladies singing to my wife, wishing her for her birthday... We will definitely recommend Sabie River Sun to others! The staff is extremely friendly. The resort is immaculate, clean and neat. The food is outstanding! We felt safe at all times. We were very relaxed and enjoyed the amazing ambiance. So close to heaven! :)

Great place to chill out for a week - lovely setting, chalets are great, can play golf of just walk the course and enjoy the setting. Hotel is there if you require such service, or just relax around your chalet. Hotel has events for kids if one needs a quiet time.

Arrived and found the grounds clean and well maintained. Check in was swift and very friendly staff. Rooms are good, can do with a new fresher look but clean and well kept. Meals was very good and friendly staff made it even better. Had a run in the resort, very nice 5km route marked out and even saw some crocs.
My only complaint is that the pool was not cleaned daily, leaves and dead bugs.
