There are nice places to stay in Hazyview area but Ashbourne is probably one of the best due to the quality of accommodation. The view over the hills surrounding is amazing and the bungalows are so nicely and well furnished.
Harmony, peace and friendly guests and staff make it an ideal place for taking a rest of visiting Kruger, the Blyde river Canyon or both !

On the 17th November 2016, my colleagues and I slept in Ashbourne Lodge. The lady that is managing the place is racist. For the very first time in my life I heard a person called us "you type of people" just because we are black and we are not from overseas. She also told us that she is glad that 90% of their guests are from overseas and she directly told us that we do not belong in their lodge we belong in Protea hotels definitely not in their lodge.
She also told us that we upset their dogs. When we were checking in she said the dogs are bucking because we are upsetting them and disturbing their overseas guests.

Racist?
No.
Behaviourist?
Yes.
By arriving after 23h00 without any consideration for the other guests, and spending half an hour having a loud debate over "why you have to leave the TV on all night so that you can sleep," is really not "the type of people" we want here.
We are not prepared to have our guests stay jeopidized by "the type of people" who do not show empathy towards the needs of others.
We love Ashbourne, and we have really wonderful guests, who love it as much as we do.
The style, the honesty, the views and the abundance of unspoilt nature really seem to have a very profound effect on almost all our guests.
If your priorities lie elsewhere, and you feel the need to make a noise late at night, why get your company or NGO to book you into a tranquil setting like Ashbourne? There are many much more suitable lodgings for people with your priorities.

We arrived at Ashbourne on 30th oct 2 days after our wedding to begin our honeymoon.
As soon as we pulled into the drive we knew it was going to be good!
Situated on top of a hill with a fantastic view Ashbourne is certainly somewhere special.
Rob was pool cleaning but stopped to not only show us our lodge but around the whole place. Nothing seemed too much trouble for him.
Our lodge was decorated beautifully (very much to my personal tastes aswell!) and had everything you could need for self catering.
We relaxed by the plunge pool for a few hours, and were planning what to do for the evening when Rob asked if we would like to see some hippo! Ummmmm yes please! We followed him down to a local golf course where he showed us the hippo and said we could stay as long as we liked.
Breakfast in the mornings were nothing short of a feast. Make sure to try Dawnes pancakes, you won't be disappointed!
When we were leaving we were unsure which route would be best to take a bit later on in our trip and Rob took the time to show us, and recommend some further accommodation there.
All in all the hosts, the accommodation, the views and the food made this stay fantastic.
Thank you Rob and Dawne.

First of all Hazyview is the perfect place to explore the Kruger Park as well as the Blyde River Canon. The Ashbourne is situated beautifully above the city (only five minutes to the city center where you find many restaurants and stores). Rob and Dawne are the greatest host ever! They prepared us lovely picknicks for our early morning game drives and always helped us with our questions. The huge room was also wonderful decorated and had a great bed! We would definitely stay here again!
