“"Great Hosts"”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

This was a 1 night stop-over on our way from Johannesburg to the Kruger Park. The guesthouse is off the beaten track and has amazing views stretching out to the Kruger Park. On arrival we were greeted by the 2 great danes and Baldrick the weimaraner. If we thought the greeting from the dogs was warm it was nothing compared to the welcome we received from Rob and Dawne. Within minutes we were settling down for relaxing drink. The rooms were in 2 buildings a few metres from the main house, they were very spacious and well equiped. As we were only staying 1 night Dawne and Rob had contacted us earlier and suggested they supply us with an evening meal instead of us having to go out. We accepted this offer and what a great meal we had. The meal was prepared in the mainhouse and Rob and Dawne retired upstairs and gave us the run of the house. When it came to the desert "Velvet Pudding" this went down so well we had to ask for the recipe the next morning. After a good nights sleep we arose to the sound of bird song and being early risers we sat beside the pool reading with the dogs for company. The breakfast was as good as the meal served the previous evening and set us up for the day. This is one of the most perfect and peaceful places I have ever stayed, with what can only be described as perfect hosts !!

The place is stunning. Peaceful, relaxed and beautiful. We'll be back. Thank you Rob and Dawne for being available when we needed you and sensitive to our family time. Next time, I'll bring my paints and the good camera and stay a little longer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our all too brief stay at Ashbourne. All of the rooms are large and beautifully decorated with attention to detail. Rob & Dawne are wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We take away happy memories of a wonderful breakfast with fantastic views,Olympic updates and cuddles with your gorgeous four legged friends. Thank you both - we hope to return soon.

A wonderful guesthouse, up on a hill and with a spectacular view. Dawne and Rob are wonderful people, helpful, friendly and our children loved them. Preparing a Braai while we were visiting Blyde Canon - no problem; having a nice red wine during the night, no problem....we just felt like being home.

The rooms do have nice furniture, a lot of space and comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent! So, we highly recommend this place,

There is a good reason why this Guesthouse has only received excellent ratings so far. If you like great views, gorgeously decorated rooms, tasty breakfasts and friendly dogs then you will love this place perched high on a hill overlooking the vistas of Hazyview. The warm welcome from the 6 dogs makes the place feel very homely. One of the dogs stationed herself outside our room which my children loved and also made me feel very safe. My children thought the dogs were one of the highlights of the trip to Africa.
Staying with Rob and Dawn felt like staying with family that you actually like.
They helped me plan my days and recommended the tours on offer. Check out the wonderful drawings of some of the dogs in Room 1 sketched by Dawn herself. This Guesthouse truly deserves it's excellent rating.

Room Tip: All rooms are tastefully decorated by Dawn herself so you can't go wrong with any of them.
