We were received very kindly. It was our first stay in SA and we loved it. We slept in a rondavel. It was clean en just really nice. We had a little trouble finding the resort. Breakfast was good as well. Very friendly staff who gave some advice about the area :)

We liked the Idle & Wild a lot. The property is beautiful. The rondavels were clean and nicely decorated. The great breaktfast was served on the terrace looking over the garden and pond.
The staff was very friendly and helpful with restaurant and activity tips.
The B&B is a little out of Hazyview and you need a car around here, but a trip into Hazyview for supermarkets and restaurants is very short.
Also very helpful: we left for Krüger from here and the Paul Krüger Gate can be reached within less than an hour.
We would definitely go back here if we ever come back!

We stayed for 2 nights at Idle and Wild. We loved the rondavels, the breakfast was delicious, and the owners and staff were so friendly. These were the 2 first night of our South African holliday and a very good start!

Room Tip: We stayed in two honeymoon rondavels with view on the pond.

Stayed for 1 night. The accommodation was spotlessly clean with a kitchen area with a mini bar which functioned on an honesty basis. There was decking out front to sit and enjoy the peaceful scenery. Free wi fi was on offer in the main building. The only reason this is not 5 stars is because there were ants on my pillow but insects are expected in such a rural location.

Having lived in Hazyview for 8 years it was difficult to decide where to stay on a return visit. The reports on Idle and Wild looked better than most and yes we did know the owners and staff. Everything was excellent. Stayed there on the way in and three weeks later on the way out. Accomodation brilliant and excellent value for money. Everbody was helpful. Can only recommend the place not as someone who knows them but as a paying guest. if you want a relaxed stay in the lowveld talk to them.

Room Tip: If just a couple go for the rooms in the main house and try an outdoor shower.

Not a brilliant experience for us. The good parts: good location, the night we arrived Wendy recommended a great restaurant. Lovely grounds, very peaceful, well run. Great base for exploring the Blyde River Canyon. The bad parts: Wendy was on her own the time we were there, and she was visibly stressed. Too much rolling eyes and breathing in for our liking. Also one tap in the room not working and not fixed, water not replenished in the kitchen, kitchen itself was not well equipped compared to other self-catering places we have stayed at. Also the activities were a bit of a let down (perhaps because it was weekend?). The birding walk 'was not a walk as such' (and nobody available to take us around in the morning), the sauna didnt work, after that we didnt bother asking for more. Also asked Wendy for directions but were half pointed to another lady who we didnt know because Wendy herself was busy making breakfast (which btw we didnt think was great, asked for eggs and tomatoes and got ONE slice of tomato and one egg, though I was asked if I wanted more but since that had taken long enough we just left it at that). From the other reviews I can only assume we were unlucky. Because of this it was the least favourite place of our 18 day tour, shame, it had so much potential!!!

We wanted a B&B near Hazyview and convenient for the Blyde River Canyon. We plumped for Idle & Wild and were not disappointed. It is easy to find. We stayed in a very comfortable rondaval, spotlessly cleaned every day. Bathroom a little small but about standard for a rondaval and with a small kitchen area and honesty mini bar. It is all very tranquill. The grounds are well kept and a delight to look at, birds and butterflys everywhere. The swimming pool is a decent size and even my cold intolerant husband had a swim. Breakfast was the normal standard for South Africa, excellent and more than enough to eat. Hazyview is a couple of minutes drive away and provides plenty of alternatives for dining. The more popular eateries do need booking. The B&B owners/staff are more than happy to oblige, they booked several activities for us.We found them welcoming, friendly and happy to go out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. We visited Elephant Whisperers and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. If you are at all interested in animals then what you will learn of the intelligence of these creatures will be very thought provoking.
We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Idle & Wild and can recommend it for both long and short stays.

Room Tip: Failed to fully investigate the other rondavals.
