“Really interesting and fun”
Review of Elephant Sanctuary

Elephant Sanctuary

Most enjoyable visit. One gets too touch, and experience African elephants like never before. Even getting to ride on a elephant, and feed them. A DVD is recorded and available for sale, for as little as R200. Well worth the price for a marvellous experience.

This was a wonderful experience, African elephants are huge compared to the Indian elephants we knew. The ride was reasonably priced and the guides were friendly. The place is beautiful and the booking was easily made.

We have visited the santuary on numerous occasions and always enjoy seeing our favourite ellies. The staff are friendly and welcoming and very knowledgable on their subject matter. We enjoy staying for a cup of coffee and kids can play close by. Such a serene setting.

Different programs include, trunk-in-hand walks, elephant back rides, educational talk and trunk to tail touch and feel guided talk. Also available is a sunset elephant ride experience ending with drink and watching the ellies play in the nearby dam.

Deffinately worth saving up for.

This was a wonderful experience, for locals and overseas visitors alike! We had just spent a week in Kruger Park, seeing many elephant (with a little distance between us and them), and were then able to really get close up and personal!
The arrangements were easy to make, the welcome friendly, and the rangers knowledgeable. The elephants (only 2, there are 5 in the facility near Hartebeespoort Dam) were well trained and really gave one a feeling of privilege.
We chose also to do the ride, and found this quite amazing! One really gets a feeling for how huge these (sometimes) gentle giants are.

The site itself is beautiful, clean and easily located. Coffee and tea available at all times. The guide was very educational and the staff very friendly and helpful. There are 2 elephants who are extremely calm and graceful in their demeanour. Each elephant has a trainer who treat the elephants with respect. You are given more than enough time to interact with the elephants and the staff always offer to take pictures with your camera for you. The staff are very good with making small children feel at ease. The actual ride is about 10-15 minutes and is a sensational experience. Definitely worth every sent spent.
