“Terrible Service”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

We booked a hotel in Hazy View and a reservation at Elephant Whispers (5 months in advance) and spent 3 1/2 hours driving here from our safari. Upon arrival we returned a phone message to Elephant Whispers. They said that there wasn't going to be a sundowner elephant adventure that day. When we asked why they wouldn't say. They said that they could put us on the 3:30 "adventure" instead. We asked about the difference and they said there was no drink. We asked if we'd get a refund for the difference and the rep said yes. She asked if the 3:30 was OK. We asked what are other options were and she said none. A random man in an unmarked car came to pick us up - a little unsettling for 2 women. Instead of taking us to Elephant Whispers, he took us to Elephant Sanctuary although the rep never said we had to go to a different place. It was a huge disappointment. They only had 2 elephants and our ride only lasted 10 minutes. Everything else was lecture. We told our travel agent and she attempted to get us a refund. They said no because we went on the other tour and they had to pay the other business. We were stuck there and no one ever told us the change would be at a different place and a different type of experience. Total bait and switch! They offered a future visit for free but since we live in the USA, that's not going to happen. After our agent majorly pushed they agreed to only reimburse us for 1/2 the cost. An entire day wasted and $ wasted on the "adventure" and hotel room. Ugh!

“Up Close and Personal”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

They have a nice facility that's really just 1km from Perry's Bridge at Hazyview, number one place for lunch al freso and shopping (higher-end stuff). The presentation has an enducational focus, but ends by giveing eceryone time (and a picture with your camera) up clase and personal with these behemoths. They're a refuge, a sanctuary, so they take problem animanls and those that jsut don't have a place, so they're doing good while practising real conservation.

An interesting and educational talk regarding Elephants and their habits plus delightful physical interaction with these huge animals, including feeding, touching etc.We also took the opportunity to have a 15 minute ride on the huge Bull elephant(3.5mts high).A truly wonderful experience we would recommend to anybody young or old.

All you need to know about african elephants and were too afraid to ask. Welcoming and very informative - being so close to such huge animals is truely amazing. The staff show great care and affection to their animals.
