We were once again blown away by the tranquility, ambiance and quality of our Blue Jay experience! Everything was yet again absolutely excellent. This is without doubt the place to be en route to the treasures of Mpumelanga. The host ate fantastic. David venter and Marc Beulens, Belgium.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in the Kingfisher suite of the Blue Jay Lodge as part of our visit to Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. In a nutshell, we loved our stay at the Blue Jay Lodge.

Ahead of our visit, I found Phil to be very engaged as he confirmed our reservations, and of his own initiative, provided directions to the property. Since we were in a self-catering suite, he provided information on where we could obtain groceries and provided sound advice on travel arrangements to Hazyview from our Airport.

We were welcomed by Margie, who showed us to our spacious, clean and tastefully decorated suite. The beds were very comfortable and the peaceful surroundings were much appreciated given our relatively hectic itinerary and the self-catering facilities were more than sufficient.

Our only regret is that we did not stay in the Hazyview area longer. I would certainly recommend a stay at the Blue Jay Lodge.

Very friendly and perfect place to stay. We missed nothing and had a very good time. The rooms are designed in a local style and unique. A fitnesscenter is not available but a nice pool is in mid of the garden

It was our first time in Hazyview and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, perfectly clean and very nice. Breakfast is very good. Best about this place are the hosts: Phil and Margi create an atmosphere which makes you feel like visiting friends. We highly recommend having a sundowner on the veranda. (Yes, there are also soft drinks available, but might have passed the best before date... ;-)) If you are about to arrive before xmas watch out for Phil's unconventional tree, which should be nicely decorated with an original Mellitta coffee filter from Germany.

We managed to pull-off a last minute trip to South Africa last year in December (2011), and given our late planning we could not get any accommodation in the Kruger National Park camps. That was probably the best thing that could have happened to us, for we would never have discovered this little gem of a place in Hazyview. Blue Jay is not very far from the Phabeni Gate (maybe 10 kms), so unless you are staying inside the park, its not much of a disadvantage.

We stayed at Blue Jay for 3 nights, and wish we could have stayed for longer. This was hands-down our best B&B experience, and it was all thanks to Phil and Margi who are excellent hosts. I have never been made feel so much at home, and they went out of the way to help us with suggestions and inputs to plan our days.

Breakfast was awesome, and personally cooked by Phil - they took extra care to meet my dietary requirements (vegetarian!) The evenings at Blue Jay will always be memorable - the braai, the drinks and the conversations with people from all over the world will remain cherished by us. The rooms were very nice and spacious, and the mini-bar was well stocked and brilliantly priced.

Was easily the high point of our trip, and thanks to Phil and Margi for making it possible (and sorry for being almost a year late on posting this!)

We stayed here for just one night on our way to Kruger but really could have stayed for much longer.
The rooms are really great with everything you could need, plenty of space and furnished really nicely.
The setting is fabulous and it was a real pleasure, after a long drive, to enjoy sundowners with Phil and Margi on the veranda.
Breakfast was also very good.

Room Tip: All the rooms looked grat; they do have one self catering which would be advisable if staying any le...

First time in Hazyview Mpumalanga, was the best time of my South African life. It was my birthday weekend (3Nov) and the best bday present my boyfriend (Sizwe) gave me was not only an African birthday in this beautiful province, but also a weekend in this beautiful lodge, Blue Jay. It was even nicer because not even one snake popped up. It was exactly what I needed. A peaceful weekend in a peaceful town. Blue Jay is clean and soooo beautiful. You want to come down and experience it for yourself. The hospitality is just amazing; I'm talking about kindness you've never experienced anywhere else. Phil and Margi are the best hosts ever. They're lovely people and their sense of humour makes you feel like you are at home, away from home.
The breakfast, that scrabbled egg, those extremely fresh croissants....keeps me wondering why I didn't go for seconds.

Basically, if you are looking for a full on nature/African getaway, Hazyview is the place and if you're looking for a classy, elegant, peaceful, affordable, welcoming place to stay, Blue Jay is the way.
Im definately doing Blue Jay next time I'm in Hazyview (soon)...and this time, I'll take seconds on those croissants.

Room Tip: Just have fun!
