I was in Lake Montezuma last week, very hungry, and looking for a good place to eat. If you have ever been to Lake Montezuma you know there is not much in the way of food. Not anymore: I happen to notice a full parking lot in front of a place called "The Ranch House Restaurant", I stepped back in time as i walked thru the front doors, the beautifully restored interior was a reminder to the days of relaxed fine dining. This restaurant was the clubhouse for the Beaver Creek golf course and country club back in the day when this was a golf retreat/resort. after many owners the golf course and clubhouse sat abandoned, subject to several years of neglect and vandals, the restaurant was saved from the wrecking ball by a coalition formed by residents surrounding the golf course. The coalition is still working to get the course up to speed, but the restaurant and bar are in full speed. the day I was there the place was booked solid for holiday parties. Now, lets talk about the food: Fantastic!! I had the Driver Sandwich, wicked good! my friend had the Ruben, same thing, Wicked good! Very impressive menu, Try the Tomato soup! Oh and, the chocolate creme brulee I could role naked in! I saw some very good looking plates coming from the kitchen, can't wait to go back ASAP and try something else! A very comfortable bar is there for your drinking pleasure also. They have a small very cool hotel two hundred feet up the road should you decide to make an overnight-er out of your visit. I give "The Ranch House Restaurant" FIVE STARS, and when the Golf Course is up and running be sure to bring your clubs, and if Frisbee golf is your thing, bring those too as the course is being set up to accommodate you crazy disc golfer too!
