Make Lisbon Falls part of your journey through Mpumalanga. Get close to the safety fence and look down... it is high and takes your breath away! Very good rain recently over this area makes these falls spectacular!

Entrance fee is R10 per person which is well worth your safety (as there is a security guard) and to see these views. Look around the whole area - down the river and up to the mountains!

Please support the local craft people, which have permanent stalls here. They have beautiful crafts at very affordable prices!

The Lisbon Falls are the tallest waterfalls in the area and the water falls from more than one place. There are several fenced viewing points.
For the more adventurous you can walk along the cliff edge to get some alternative views of the falls. This requires a high level of caution and care as the walk is a little bumpy and you are very close to the edge.
We loved the size and shape of these waterfalls. If your time in the area is limited the Lisbon Falls should be high on your list of places to visit.

During our Panoramic safari, our guide brought us to Lisbon Falls, He told us it was the highest falls in South Africa (91m). We stopped the jeep and he gave us 20 minutes here. It was really gorgeous. A few locals selling souvenirs to the tourist (very polite and welcoming) were there. There are 2 viewing levels and you can go fo a lovely short walk.

Perfect stop over - 20 minutes were perfect.

Lisbon falls was so beautiful; we actually enjoyed it much more than God's Window just up the road. There are a few different viewing points but if you're not afraid of heights I really recommend you walk to the main overlook and then take the dirt path through the grass that goes just below the parking lot and then out so that you can get a great head on look at the waterfall. There were hardly any people out there so if you walk just 20 minutes you can get a great secluded view. Great spot to bring a sandwich and have a little picnic!

Part of the many falls in the Blyde River Canyon, probably not the best but worth a visit at the end of the rainy season.
