My team and I had attended the airshow hosted at the Polokwane airport and our accommodation was arranged with the hotel. The Hotel staff and property are of great standards as compared to their competitors, but the food catering from the casino restaurant is of poor standards in that: 1-We arrived for dinner at 19;30 and were allocated a table for five at 19:45 even though tables were empty but dirty
2-We ordered starters and the main course shortly after with drinks included, but 15min later we were informed those starters were out of stock
3-We changed our ordered starters and again 20min later we were informed again that there is no stock.
4-While we request the floor manager to assist, he (Malibongwe) is unavailable and the time is 20:45 approximately.
5-We request the waitress (Rebecca) to request the chef to choose for us any starters available in the kitchen. This process takes a further 20 minutes to be resolved
6-The main course is presented at 21:35 and we again request for the floor manager(malibongwe) who informs us that he has already attended to our problem regarding the service(all this effort without asking us what our query is).
7-We inform Malibongwe about the poor service we have received and worse, the main food presented is wrong.
8-Malibongwe failed to correct the situation and due to our accommodation and dinner being booked as a combo, we had to salvage the little time left, sharing meals preferable for eating.
8-A female senior manager briefly appeared on the floor, but seemingly ignored us and was clearly conversing to Malibongwe and staff about us.
9-Our table was left un-cleared until payment was due.
This was the worst experience I have ever experienced regarding hotel restaurants, but the hotel breakfast staff and eating area were 5 star. A big thank you to Machana and Refilwe who were very professional and friendly. I recommend them and their team to run the restaurant. The manager (Malibongwe) was so incapacitated and unskilled that he kept informing us that the kitchen is a problem, the restaurant has no stock of food, he will write an email to his staff members, but he failed to address our frustrations. We left the restaurant at 22:20 and we had not had a proper dinner. Shame on that casino restaurant management and staff. I will never recommend it to anyone visiting Meropa Casino.
