“What a great place to stay!”
Reviewed April 13, 2010

My husband and I stayed here, along with my parents, who had their own room right next to us. We all loved it! All the staff were super nice and went out of their way to make sure we were happy, they allowed my dog to stay, the rooms were clean and roomy, beds were very comfy, the pool was heated and felt great! Location was peaceful and close to everything. We will definately be staying here again!

Keep up the great work!!! :-)

Arrived in Lake Havasu City looking for accommodation and to our horrer it was in the middle of Spring Break, so had a bit of difficulty getting a room, unless you wanted to pay the earth. We found a room here and was greeted by a charming young lady at check in. We had no trouble with noise even although there was quite a few youngsters staying in the hotel. The rooms were nice and very clean We would definately stay again.

My fiancee and I liked the room. It gave us enough space to stretch our legs and walk about. The net worked and was pretty fast. We enjoyed the quiet and clean setting. The bedding was clean but it looked a bit worn. The towels were small, thin and scratchy but clean. The bathroom was clean. Very clean to my relief!

It was a great stay, especially considering the price. I loved the room. It had a small kitchen area, small living room area and a decent sized closet, dresser and a King sized bed. (Deposit is required if you wish to use their cooking utensils.)

I would stay again. My fiancee liked the room and was pleased with our stay. His grandmother stopped by the room and was also pleasantly surprised by the amout of space in the room.

I have never stayed in a hotel that made me feel so depressed. The managers are very rude, they don't treat me like a guest, they make me feel like an intruder. The housekeepers do as little as possible, the rooms are dirty, the sheets are old and dingy-looking, the towels are cheap, greying-white and scratchy. The bed is so bad I wake up with a backache every day. The suites are supposed to be furnished efficiencies and they gave me a few crappy, broken utensils, not even a can opener. The TV is about 20 years old and the buttons are broken off it, the picture is terrible. The management is so rude they go as far as to lock me out of my room if they don't get payment in advance for every night's stay. I have never been treated so badly or felt this depressed staying in a hotel before.

TO VERY DEPRESSING GUEST:

Management was stunned to have received such a negative review, and realize the necessity to address the issues mentioned. Our standard at the Island Suites is to interact with our guests both courteously and friendly, in that hopefully all who stay with us will feel most welcomed and have a comfortable place in which to return. Meticulous care is administered by our housekeeping staff to provide a high standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel, including the launedering of our quality linens used. Individual rooms are cleaned daily, and in this particular situation, a "DO NOT DISTURB" sign was placed on the door regularly except when guest was out of the room. Liability coverage is an issue when pets are left in the room while a guest is away, and Island Suites personnel are not permittted to enter any room in that situation. We are more than happy to provide basic kitchen essentials and accommodate when various requests are made. We are left puzzled that this unhappy guest would continue to extend a four month stay at the hotel.

Yes, it's not fancy, but for the price it was certainly a good value. We stayed two nights. Our room was clean and large (separate sitting area, not a true suite). It had a small kitchenette. As another reviewer said, no dishes/pans - you'd need to ask at the desk. Wireless was pretty good speed. Towels weren't great - just barely enough for two. Breakfast is very basic - you may want to bring your own. Seems most of the clients are snowbirders (true for the whole town) who stay for weeks.

One thing to watch for: on checking in, we had a rate guaranteed online. The rate on the check-in form was much higher--the clerk explained it included tax. Seemed reasonable, but after checking out, I took another look at the form and I'd been charged about 8 percent more than the online quote. Wasn't worth going back to argue about, but you should ask for the rate and tax breakdown on checkin/checkout.

We were disappointed that the pool and hot tub were closed for maintenance. Then we learned that, contrary to what is stated in the AAA Tour Book, no breakfast would be served.

But the incident that really soured our visit was when we checked out and saw a surcharge on the bill. When I asked the desk clerk, he said it was to cover our water and electricity use. That was an absurd explanation since the sign outside clearly says “free utilities.” When I pointed that out to the clerk, he continued to mumble something about water and electricity.

WOW, such an experience, never again!

This place is CHEAP - they serve coffee in the lobby in the morning, but only one pot at a time. So when the pot runs dry, you have to find someone to come make another pot.

The room was dirty -- dirty carpet, dirty floor in bathroom, even the white towels had that nice grayish tint to them! UGH

Some of the Lights in the room were burnt out.
The kitchenette had no silverware, dishes, nothing. If you want, you have to go to the front desk and check out a box of supplies.
There is one TV for the suite ... a 1990s 25 inch TV. Guess it was better than no TV but not by much.
We stayed two nights. On the second morning, we caught the maid and asked if she was going to make our room -- imagine our surprise when she said our room was not on her list to clean, but she could do a quick 'touch up.'
The FREE high speed internet was a joke - we found an open Wi-Fi signal from outside the hotel that was better. The hotel Wi-Fi signal was POOR at its best! Did we mention this place was cheap?

Our rating of QUIET is due to the lack of other guests!!! There was plenty of free parking - only 4 cars in the lot including those of the hotel staff!! UGH

If you expect something nice, look at a different hotel as you will not find it here!!!
