Good comfortable night's sleep after two flights from the UK. Everything we needed was there - but on this occasion we ate at the Cattle Baron next door.
Camp shop had the supplies that we needed for the first few days self catering.

We stayed in a spacious 3 bed rondavel for two nights. It has a bathroom, large fridge, kitchen area outside which has plates, cups and cutlery. There is a BBQ too. Soap and towels also provided.
The booking in process was very slow.
We enjoyed our large meals at the restaurant where there is limited wifi. No wifi in the rooms.

If you are not a 'camping' type of person, than you might not like to be in this type of environment.
For a government run, I thought this was a nice place.
We stayed in a Rondavel which was very basic. The floors and bathroom could be cleaner. I did hear that renovations are being done in the Rondavels. The floors and bathroom could be cleaner and updated. Maybe the unit I stayed in is one of the ones still need to be renovated.Sheets are pressed and clean. Bed/pillow okay.
They supply toilet paper, skimpy soap and a skimpy towel.I recommend bringing extra towels, tissues, bar of soap.
Very nice restaurant/bar/lounge area. Cannot comment on the food because we were with Wild Wings that included outdoor/private chef dining.
Playground, pool also very nice. Beautiful day spa where we went for a massage. Food Market/gift shop has everything you need.
This place could use more lighting and signs, especially at night. Kept getting lost even with a flashlight! (bring a good flashlight too!) Make sure you ask for a map of the property.
Loved being right at the park. All in all this was a fun experience for a first timer in Kruger. I would recommend it.

We got lost trying to find our house from the shop. Even though we were not far from the shop, it took us half an hour to find it. Luckily we had a flashlight with us, otherwise it is not funny trying to find your way in the pitch dark, with baboons lurking around.
One of the bathrooms had no hot water.
There were roaches in the bathroom.

It's a shame for me that we have this jewel right on our doorstep and the government owned facilities are falling appart....

I recently had a 3 night stay in one of the rondawels at the rest camp. For R1200 per night i was expecting a lot more than a 1960's aircon, a shower that has been fixed with cellotape and a broken bathroom light.

Skukuza has all the basic facilities and is centrally located. We also saw a lot of animals.
