As the Parks HQ I was very dissapointed with the facilities and the sevice.I was actually embarressed to be a south african and have all the tourist wanting their african experience turn laughing stock when they visit the camp.

only good thing I can say was the ablution blocks were clean.
I've never seen a pool in such a bad state, green, cig budds. It 's warm on most days and nobody takes care of the ONLY pool. Are you kidding me?

Service at the restaurant is just diabolical, most employees have a "don't care" attitude!!
Because you have no other option but to visit the restaurant or shop does not mean you can dish bad food, bad attitude, bad service!

Is this really the kind of image you want to project to people visiting our country?
Management should be sacked on the spot!

Great location, not-so-great place. Campground was neglected, bathrooms were not cleaned regularly, tent furnishings were shabby. Too bad there isn't another alternative for the budget traveler. Of course, the wildlife, both beasts and birds, more than makes up for this!

After staying at Protea Kruger gate we moved to what was described as luxury accommodation in Skukuza at R 1600.00 per night. This price was more expensive than hotel with dinner and b/fast included. That been said it had a good position near river, and the accommodation was adequate for a camp environment. The pool was murky and not inviting. Lots of weeds on walk way and the benches needed to be treated. Staff were friendly and efficient and perhaps due to such full occupancy the camp is a little tied, but still good value for money and you are able to enter the park early for game drives.

Room Tip: A river view is always a good choice, plus in summer months, Sept to April an air conditioner is essential

Skukuza like the others State camps in the Kruger NP are great places were you can stay.
Around is full of animals.
The camp are very organized with restaurant , fast food, car officine, gas station.
The bungalow are clean and confortable.
I suggest only a thing... Stay more days! If you want to see all the big animals of the savannah you had to stay 3 or 4 days ... more better!
We spent 5 days and we see lions, leopards, elephants zebras, giraffas, gnu and a lot of other animals.

Stayed in the tented camp. Of course the location is perfect, right in Kruger. The tent is simple and can get very chilly at night. Communal sanitary is okay.

It says its self-catering but I guess that's more for the campers. You have a braai and a communal 'kitchen' which is crappy. You don't get any cutlery, dishes, pans or anything. You can buy these for rediculous prices in the campshop.
