I had several prior Singita visit but this was my first visit to Sweni. The camp location is perfect, secluded and hidden away in the riverbed. With the rooms perched like nests overlooking the water. It is designed for privacy with only a few rooms and the best possible service.

The food was creative, fresh and matched the excellent wine collection. With many luxury lodge offerings available, Singita remains the benchmark and the trendsetter.

The game viewing was superb and the ranger, like most Singita rangers, was very well trained and ensured we enjoyed everything the drives had to offer.

I would recommend flying rather than driving to Sweni. You will arrive more relaxed and spend more time at the lodge.

We came on honeymoon and stayed for 3 days. The place is just amazing and magical from every aspect. Our room was totally luxurious and stylish. You really feel like part of nature, part of the bush. We slept outside on our deck out on the bed under the stars one night to the sound of hippos in the river below. Its an experience you never forget. You feel like you are part of a family from the minute you arrive. The game drives are wonderful, we were not disappointed! Our guides and trackers were so knowledgeable and so friendly. We couldn't wait to set out on every game drive to see what we might encounter, creatures large and small.
On our first night as we were on honeymoon, we had dinner on the pool deck on our own just with lanterns to light our surroundings.
Apart from the luxury and magical setting its the people who make this place stand out. You are made to feel like you are the only people there at that moment.
My wife even shed a few tears when we left, I'm sure she wasn't the first and she won't be the last. This place is that special.

Room tip: As the lodge only has 6 rooms, they are all in great locations and are equally luxurious and stylish.

Our second Singita Lodge, and another perfect experience. We drove from the airstrip for about half an hour, passing through Kruger National Park on a paved road. Then we turned off and came to our lodge. We looked down from the lodge to see the river and on the banks many hippos. Later in our stay the hippos were mostly in the water- so that initial viewing was an unusual treat. Meals were served on a terrace overlooking the river and again we always saw hippos, occasionally elephants and some antelopes as well while we dined. Our villa was beautiful, but there was no plunge pool, something that we had begun to appreciate at our first stay at Ebony. There is a pool, but that pool was not adjacent to our villa and we did not utilize it.

The game sightings were wonderful and, unlike at Kruger, we could go off road to find game. Again, unlike at Kruger, we could do so unaccompanied by other vehicles. We shared our vehicle with one other couple on both our day and night drives.

Here we realized that at Singita the motto appears to be "your wish is our command." One example- our tastes in wines had already been sent from the Ebony sommelier to the sommelier here and we were offered wonderful South African wines. Our dining time was not set; when we appeared, a menu was proffered.

Again we walked here with our tracker and guide, and again we found that a very different experience than sitting in the vehicle. We followed tracks, we viewed hippos in a pool, we examined small creatures.

Our experience at Singita was absolutely phenomenal. My sister and I had the trip of a lifetime - memories were created that will be remembered for many years to come. And while there is no doubt that the lodge is beautiful and the bush is simply magical, the staff that looked after us is what really made the difference. I work with many reputable organizations around organizational culture and service. In my opinion, the experience I had this week should be considered the benchmark that all other hospitality organizations should strive for. The staff made us feel like royalty from the moment we arrived. Every detail throughout our journey was considered and each person we interacted with delivered magnificent service. I can assure you that I will be speaking about the "Singita way" for years to come.To everyone at Singita Sweni Lodge - Thanks you for creating amazing experiences and memories that will not be forgotten.

My partner and I spent 2 nights at Sweni and 3 nights at Singita Ebony in December. You can see my Ebony review under its listing. Although I preferred the look of Ebony lodge (it's like a high end version of an old school hunting lodge), I can see how others might prefer Sweni's more modern look. For instance, the floor to ceiling windows really made it easier to constantly be looking out your window for birds and wildlife. (I saw hippos from my balcony at both places and at that point Singita had me forever). The pool is also nicer at Sweni, I thought, though you really shouldnt be going to Singita for the pools. Sweni is also more intimate- because we went in early December both places only had a few other guests, but at Xmastime or other busy periods it might be preferable to be at Sweni.
The important thing to know about Sweni is that this is a private concession at Kruger and they do in fact drive off road. Our guide, Reckson, was such a great guy-- soulful, I would say. We saw the Big 5 and lots of other great animals.
We actually did the optional walking safari-- which in truth freaked us out a bit at the time in truth, but which we will now never forget. We actually saw all the Big 5 at Sweni, but never saw buffalo at Ebony. You will have great animal sightings at both locations.
The food and the staff are absolutely wonderful. You should not stress out too much about your decision to go to any Singita property, you simply will not regret the experience- you will treasure it.
