“A Piece of Heaven!”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

This was our 5th visit! Gave it a lot of thought on whether we should be going back to the same place but decided on Hamilton's anyway. Good decision. It is just such a great lodge. The tents/suites are excellent with everything one could ask for without losing the " bush " feeling. The outdoor showers afford you the best wash you will ever have. New Rangers since our last visit & they were excellent. Such passion for their work. We saw a leopard kill - very privileged! The only problem is that one eats too much - the food is delicious! One suggestion - time the chef gets a bit more inventive with his breakfasts! The same thing is on offer everyday. And then what can I say about the Hamilton's Gem - Ronny. His stories & huge smile just make the visit so much more special. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Ronny!

Room Tip: Tent number 1 has a wonderful view with animals coming to drink & tent number 5

This "camp" is amazing. You feel as if you have stepped back in time to 1880. The staff is welcoming and charming, the food is delicious and the extra touches such as coctails at sunset in the park make it a special experience. Never thought we would have such a luxurious room/tent with a wonderful view over the river ( had 3 hippos entertain us) and how nice to have an outdoor shower!. Our guide, Joe was exceptional. He knows the habits and nuances of all the birds and animals and goes out of his way to make every ride eventful. It was beyond our expectations!

Spent a wonderful couple of nights at this remote tented camp. The staff, cuisine and the environs lived upto our expectations. It was all an amazing experience and our ranger's knowledge gave us a great insight to life in the bush.

Room Tip: Tent 1 will have the best views in the dry season.

We arrived (our 6th visit) just after they opened again after the fllods in January. We were greeted like long lost family. The rooms are stunning, the food was great, you are always made to feel welcome, from Ronnie's terrible Jokes, to the interesting stories of the Shangaana way of life. Our guide, Joe, was very knoledgable and did a great job, considering the entire concession was inacessible and only certain roads were open in the Park, we saw 4 of the big 5, just the elusvie leopard remained hidded. Apart from that we saw saome great sightings, from Lions with samll cubs, to Wild Dog, to Hyena, elephant, Buffalo, Rhino I could go on and on.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 & 2 over look the dam, but due to the floods, the entire river was full, we had requeste...

We stayed here for 3 amazing nights. Sometimes you forget you are in the Bush with the amazing food and drink on offer. Staff cannot do enough for you and we loved Ronny`s stories. Jo was an amazing guide and very knowledgeable on all the animals. We were lucky enough to see the big 5 in one game drive, which is rare. Would love to visit again soon. If we would change one thing maybe tea and coffee facilities in the room with a small fridge. However waiter are at your door with drinks as required. short loved the bedtime story on the pillow nice touch.

My wife and i have stayed at Hamiltons many times of the past few years and returned again in mid December for 3 nights.

We stayed in room 1 which we always ask for as it has the best views over the dam and the chance to relax on the balcony and watch the wildlife walk past, on this trip even wild dog one morning.

Food as always very good and how the chef manages to produce such quality from the small kitchen in the middle of the bush always amazes me.

All the staff are attentive and of course Ronnie enjoys telling a joke or two over dinner.....

If you are looking for a real bush experience, in the middle of Kruger with no fences, a feeling of the old African spirit then Hamiltons never disappoints... Had to wait to leave our room on the last day as the baboons decided to use our tent as a trampoline...

Looking forward to my next trip.

Room Tip: Room 1 is the best, then room 2 due to the dam view.
