Pezulu Tree House Game Lodge
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 19, 2014

Pezulu is hands down the coolest place I've ever stayed. My husband and I spent just one night there on our way from Kruger to Ladysmith and we left just wishing we had had more time to stay longer. We stayed in the Honeymoon Tree Houes which had a stunning view, giraffe and zebras passing our window in the morning, super comfortable bed (with very clean sheets!) and a really cool bath sunk into the wooden floor. The food is good and staff really friendly and so helpful. 100% recommend it.

My husband and I decided on Pezulu for our Honeymoon, the overall experience was great, the staff is amazing, they go the extra mile to make sure you are happy. I would however, like to suggest new linen, crockery and cutlery, Pezulu is not a cheap getaway and having nice linen would surely give a more luxurious feel.

We (my husband an I) had a fabolous two day stay at Pezulu in February. Even though we had no big luck during our game drive (only three out of the Big Five) the stay has been very memorable. Claude, Lydia and their entire team do everything to make one feel welcome and comfortable. The food is very good as well. We stayed at the Dream Tree House which really deserves its name. Sleeping under the stars and showering while watching a group of Zebras are two of our favorite memories from our visit in South Africa. We also did the Bush Walk with the Lodge and that was absolutely fantastic as well. Standing right next to a Zebra and a Giraffe, feeling the heat coming out of a termite burrow, hearing beards sing and watching butterflies is really something no bush drive can accomplish.

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon in the spring and were absolutely spoiled while there. On our first evening there, we took a safari and saw the big five first try! The people there were so hospitable, friendly, and caring - not to mention we had some of the best cooking we've ever had! It truly exposes you to African culture and cuisine. They even gave us a private dinner (so romantic) our last night there. Although we only stayed for 4 days, I felt like we got to know the employees and owner on a personal level. The tree houses were well kept and by far the coolest place we've ever stayed! Waking up to giraffes in the front yard is definitely a once in a lifetime experience that you will cherish forever. I cried when we left if that tells you anything. I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We stayed in Marula - I think this room had to have the best view! Live trees in the tree house. Hig...

Once again my friend and I were treated like celebrities by Claude and Lydia on our second visit to Pezulu..
We can find nothing that would make us concerned. The wonderful staff made our stay a perfect event. Connie the Chef and Ronnie the all rounder stood out. It was a wonderful second experience that will be remembered always. The ever presence of many animals was a treat. Great meals around the campfire with the opportunity to meet people from other countries added to the occasion.
From the staff we received a wonderful welcome and a very emotional farewell.

If you want to try something really different you MUST go to Pezulu.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms at Pezulu.

When u think treehouses you normally think of a small little place in the movies. The tree houses at Pezulu are those only a million times better . Our stay was everything we imagined and more . The tree houses are all different but have the bush uniqueness you need when u are near the Kruger.

The food is plentifull ( maybe a little for breakfast) but everyone is very accomodation even with all my allergies. When the weather is perfect at night eating in the bomb is lovely and festive .
There are no fridges in the room but the staff are willing to store anything for u which is easily accessible .

The game drive is a must. Seeing everything so close was amazing. The bush walk also a winner.

It's a long drive from jhb so make the trip worth it. Bring games and sit out watching the stars . Don't forget mosquito repellent .

we just returned to Australia after a wonderful trip to Africa. Our first stop was in Pezulu, where we enjoyed the experience of sleeping in a Treehouse. The accomadation was so unique, that my 4 adult children felt young again. The staff we so friendly and we felt like we made many new friends, very well chosen and an asset to Claude and Lydia. The food provided good home cooked meals, which we enjoyed when on holiday. The game drive, our first in Africa, provided many memorable moments and all our future game drives had to match the first experience at the local reserve. We were bitten by mosquitos and did find it hard to sleep, but the trade off is to see giraffe outside our balcony and zebra running passed while we had an outdoor shower. The hot water did seem to go off an on but we were out in the bush and when it was on, the showers were lovely and hot. As it did rain we were stuck at the lodge a little more than we would have liked with no car, which did make it hard to go out. Claude did organise as many tours as possible with our wonderful guide John, however so we could get the most out of the area. Any future recommendations would be to expand the common area for those who visit without transport and to have 'breathing room' with so many guests. Pezulu was a unique experience that we treasured in our stay in Africa.

Room Tip: We stayed in Marula, with 6 adults. Wonderful for a family or if you want a lot of room
